I have absolutely no tolerance for shitty driving from "professional" drivers. It makes me furious. This is different from my nontolerance for cellphone junkies and inattentive ya-hoos--those make me sick.

I am so very glad, High_Side, that you have lived to tell about it. I suppose no one flagged down the driver or got any info on the bus??

Hey, look, the curse filter lets us say "shitty"!! Not "poo poo", of course. That would be crude.

Shitty shitty bang bang, we love you!
Thanks MZ, I'm glad I lived to whine about it on the internet as well!

I'm thinking that the professional driver thing might be part of why I was not as careful as I should be while passing them. After all, who has ever been cut off by a school bus?????

Calling a school bus driver a professional driver is an insult to any other driver with a CDL.

And yes I have been cut off by a school bus many times.

Yeah, pretty much the whole summer. I figure after the last few years I've had, I deserve a good break. And I'm in a position to make that happen now, so I'm going for it.

I got a few things firmly planned already that will occupy me for a good while, no epic journeys on the bike yet, but it is not out of the question. Definitely going to be some less-than-epic rides here and there, but I don't think I'll be going coast to coast... at this time. That may change later.... depends on how I feel. I have the luxury of doing WTF I want when the mood strikes, I think I'm going to enjoy that luxury.

I may end up wandering around China for a month or so as well. Going to be the kinda summer I ain't had since I was a kid 25 years ago.

Party On, Garth! :rocking:

China would be good, but even better by motorcycle.

I admire what you are doing and only wish I could pull off something similar. My list of places that I need to go is just getting longer as the time left to do it gets shorter. Doing what you are doing should be mandatory.....way to go.

Back on the topic of formation riding: There is a very well written and articulate letter in the June issue of Canadian Biker on just this issue that I received in the mail an hour ago.

Maybe I should give this staggered formation rant a rest for a while or people will really just figure out that it is one guy doing all of the complaining......bwahahahaha!

If I do end up in China, I will definitely be buying a bike there for transport.

I wonder how staggered formation riding would work there..... not really I don't, I've seen how the traffic is there. Total chaos, and yet very few incidents. The desire to not wreck the bike (a major investment for most of them) and the fact they all have a sense of personal responsibility (unlike here where most people think their own safety is up to everyone else) seems to be enough to get home alive. They may be on to something..... shame we could never implement that mentality here..... too many lawyers running around still breathing for that to happen now.

I have a buddy who periodically runs a motorcycle tour company in Thailand. Same thing, crazy riders by north american standards, yet very few wrecks. When I was in Mauritius and rented the bikes it was one of the scariest rides of my life, but by the end it started making sense. China sounds like a great adventure. Don't mess it up. Come back with some great stories to keep the rest of us entertained!

Still in no way confirmed I am going. But not out of the question by any means either. If I do go, trust me, you will hear all about it. You will be sick of hearing about it before I am done, lol.
