Ignition coils

#1 Unread post by Fargo360 »

I am thinking my coils are starting to go bad and am looking at some coil options. Has anyone heard of profire ignition coils? Are they worth a "crumb"? Does anyone think they will work on my 360T? Or should I just get some NOS coils off of ebay?

You can test your coils for free before throwing money at new coils which you may not need. You just need a manual and a multimeter. You will test the primary resistance and the secondary resistance. If your meter doesn't explain where to put the leads, I think we can guide you through it.

If they are in fact bad, see if you can read the part number stamped on them, and shop for them by part number, lots of coils are used on more than one machine. Hint, if you're trying for coils on Ebay, type in the part number and search both title and description.

get hold of the wiring diagram for you bike before you spend money on parts. I had a similar problem on my kz 750 and it turned out to be the IC Igniter, Basically a CDI. This was after I replaced plug wires, coils, points, etc.....
