Where are all these people who have started out on 1000cc bikes and 'busas? Don't see 'em here on the forum. Or very many other forums out there, for that matter. Most of them have either scared themselves out of riding, smashed up their pretty toys, too bruised of an ego to admit their mistakes, or will never be able to do so because they got something they couldn't handle.

I met a man several months ago who bought a Hayabusa for his first motorcycle. I walked into a restaurant with my helmet and jacket in hand. He asked me if the bike outside was mine. I told him. He looked at me in disbelief and asked if I could handle that. I laughed and told him "more or less...". Then he goes on to tell me about how he is scared to take his Hayabusa out on the streets??? Hm...

The problem is that he didn't learn on something that would've been easier to maneuver. And that is going to be your problem.

Yup, you go right ahead and grab yourself one of those 1000cc crotch rockets. Because apparently working on motors and riding dirt bikes qualifies you to competently operate a litre-bike on the street. (oh, btw, I grew up on dirt bikes, too, kid. No 1000cc in my garage.)

Just don't further pollute the gene pool in the mean time, please? :-/

So because you dont have a 1000 in your garage means no one can? Is that what you saying? Because you didnt start out riding a 1000, no one else can? And I never said it qualified me, I am just saying im not going to get on a 1000 or any bike for that matter and just hold it the clutch get the bike to 10 grand an dump the clutch. I have many friends who ride 600s. One rides a R6 the other a GSX-R 600 an another on a CBR 600 (I have very diverse friends haha) A few of them have rode a 750 and said it scared them half to death. Thats coming from people who bob an weave in an out of traffic daily. And thats what I want, I want a bike that gives me a rush the first time and the 100th time I ride it. Everyone always says your never going to ride the bike to its fullest but I live close to Road Atlanta which I would vist if they have open track day. Also the trade I was going to do with my truck fell through so those extra parts yall want of my 1000 will have to wait a little bit longer

So professional racers can't push 600cc bikes to their limits at road Atlanta, Barber, Jennings or VIR but you can show Haga, Fabrizio and Spies how it's done?

You know that makes no sence.......My friends being intimidated by a bike makes me not know what Im talking about? Explain your theory. Because the first time they rode a bike with 30 more hp an got spooked that makes me ignorant? I wont be getiting a bike for another 6 months I'd say. And by then maybe Ill get tired of savin an buy a used 600, I dont know I cant tell the future. I aim high in life so I have something to look foward to, and if I fall short and settle for less atleast I tried. In this case hope for a show room floor GSX-R 1000 and end up getting a 1986 Kawi 250 atleast Im out on the road riding a motorcycle so it all works out in the end.

That's right. These guys who actually have street experience on 600 super sports getting freaked out on something like a 750... and you, who as far as we know have NO street experience, want to go out and grab a 1k? And you STILL can't see the bad "logic" in that? Your pycnometer readings are off the charts, kid.

Do yourself and your pockets a good favor: just go take the MSF. And get that 250. Maybe even a 500. If you can find a Ninja 250 in decent shape, that would be great - once you decide that you want to move up, you can sell it to another aspiring rider for about the same amount you paid for it! This isn't a cheap 'hobby', but you don't have to make yourself broke to enjoy it. Save up for a while anyway. There will be bikes out there for you when you're ready. The last thing you should do is rush this.

Believe it or not, but we DON'T want kids like you going splat on our riding surfaces. It may seem like we're picking on you (and we are...), but we really do want you to go about this in the safest manner possible, and I assure you, going out and getting one of those nice 1000s is not the way to go right now. Save that for later when you are more experienced and wiser (and more financially-established!). You may not think so now, but you will look back and thank yourself for not buying the fastest and nicest bikes out there.

Just get a ride - and it doesn't have to be fancy or fast. Some of our veterans here STILL get rushes from their 250s.

I think when the time comes I'm going to try and get my hands on an older style GSX-R 600. My friends dad had one and I love the big beffy styles on the older ones. Also its not near as powerful as the 1000s and only a little less than the 600s of today. So its not quite as much of a wild ride. Also I can pick one up for a decent price an has plenty of room for my 6'3" frame. Although "Kid" is in my display, Im from it, actully I feel its degrading in some ways. I dont reffer to all of you guys as old do I? Heres a stupid question that is one of the better ones Ive asked, What if I dont quit growing till 6'5" or 6'6" is there any riders on here that tall who ride sport bikes?
