Haha, you've got an old 600. My 09 R6 will power wheelie in third gear as I oh so alarmingly discovered at Road Atlanta this year.

That 750 was dyno'd over 180rwhp I believe and yes the gearing makes the bike hella tourqey thats what was hard for them to get used to because of the way the clutch had to be released so it wouldnt shoot out from under them. And like I said the 750 could and has stomped mostly stock 1000s. As Ive said before I have a job now so I can get a motorcycle an make payments but since Im in high school an flip burgers to get money I cant just trade up like you guys have suggested which I have taken into consideration an have thought about. A older 600 would be my best bet given my circumstances an finacial status. Because now my truck gets 10mpg an must have 93 an that adds up very quick. So by the time I add in the exrtra cost for motorcycle insurance an subtract from the gas Im saving it comes out to be about the same. So dont think Im disclosing all your valid arguements but I do to the stupid totally bias ones.

Wrider seems your had a nice collection of cars haha my S-10 now has over 400hp an its N/A but it hooks like no other an with a 1500 stall an a shift kit it throws you in the back of your seat an will keep you there till I let off lol

Hmmm. At the risk of flogging a dead horse, GixxerKid, let me refer you to Ducky. His posts can be found here:
viewtopic.php?t=27116&highlight=
He doesn't really frequent this site anymore, except he very nicely came back to "man up" and admit that the boring longbeards here were right. If you read his posts and then PM him, he may be able to bridge the gap between inexperienced confidence and wizened short tempers. If you want sage experience in a serene package, go find Yoda. Here, you will find people who know what they are talking about and get exasperated when people seek their advice and then get in a huff when said person basically tells them "I'm different, though. I'm mature for my age. I respect the beast, blah, blah, blah." And so, their cynicism emerges. A cynicism born in part from having friends die, or get badly messed up, or themselves get messed up. Oh, yeah, Gixxer, a lot of the old farts you are snotting at have the scars to back up their claims. Your insults do not make you a better rider than the fleet of them--and they are trying to help you, nonetheless.

Like Ducky, you may well survive such a bike. We all hope you do, if such is your choice. But you may not become as refined a rider as you could be if you go for too much bike too soon.

Alright I'll check that out thanks for the link. And I know that there are some (but few) people on here who are trying to warn me about the dangers of bikes like these. But there are also some people who are just as "Cocky" towards new riders as I seem to be trying to become a new rider and that gets nowhere. And I appreciate the people on here who are being "Real" with me I do. Sounds tacky but Ive always tried to live by the motto "Go Big or Go Home" I know its not the brightest idea when shopping for a motorcycle but its hard when everything Ive owned has been at the top of the food chain in its class. Which is why its even hard for me to settle for a 600 but I know it will be for the better. So its not just me being ignorant and oblivious towards motorcycles its just a lifestyle Ive lived by my whole life which is why I am who I am today. So dont take it to heart if you feel Im being disrespectful by not agreeing Im just simply trying to get some real facts and not the usually badgering "Squids" get by asking questions.

Well yeah, but none of those were mine... I learned to drive on a 92 Isuzu pickup 5 speed 4 banger. Top speed = 100 mph.

And I have to call you on this one... Unless you've got some serious weight in the back 400 hp in an S10 isn't gonna hook at all. Heck the 90 horses I had in my Isuzu would spin the tires because of the lack of traction...

Either way the point is that it's seriously better to keep it slow to start off with, then go faster. And a 250 you can usually sell back for almost exactly waht you bought it for unless you buy brand new. Heck my Volusia sold for 300 more than i bought it after 3500 extra miles and a year...

Well I suppose traction bars with 10" wide DRs along with a locked up rear end wouldnt make it hook. It spins a little if I stab it but Ive learned the truck enough to know how to feather the throttle starting out to get it to hook without losing to much speed. And call me out, I wont lose any sleep at night because I know what the truck does on account of I drive it every day. But this is a cycle forum so I think we might be getting a little off topic.

And I checked out Duckys post and he made some strong points and I did PM him

Good luck being able to walk out of a dealership with a new bike and financing it. You have to have a decent job AND credit history, a job that's making decent money, etc etc. Flipping burgers part time isn't going to get you a loan for this. Props to you for at least having a job, but it's not enough. You severely overestimate the generosity of lenders right now.

Your finance argument does you no good. Why? Because with a 250 or 500, you'll be getting better gas mileage than a 600+ AND dramatically lower insurance.

But whatever, screw the experience that these people are speaking from. Tell the people that have been on two wheels for thousands of miles that they're wrong. Go out and get yourself one of those 600cc or bigger bikes. No one is saying that you'll end up on the pavement for sure, but your odds are dim.

If you don't want the badgering that "squids" get... well, don't be a squid. Squids get too big of bikes for their first. Uh, yeah, I'm guilty. It was a cheap bike that I couldn't pass up on, and it came back to bite me in my scrawny backside. You have people from both sides of the issue telling you it's not a good idea. All of these people who started out on small bikes are thankful they did so. Me, who started on a 600 (as far as street riding goes), thankful that I didn't get anything larger and am looking to get a v-twin for my next because an I4 600 is TOO FRIGGIN' MUCH.

The dead horse is looking a wee bit over-flogged.

Oh, forgot one more piece of evidence... Got a buddy here in CO with a 300 WHP Cobalt, the one I drove. He's also got a 240 HP Accord and used to own a 320 HP 240SX. He got an R6 for a first bike, scared him so much he sold it.

As for the traction bars and 10" rears not bad...

Maybe, instead of getting a bike, you should sell your "2 wicked" truck, not get a bike, and put the money from your job into a savings account. Sounds a little bit like you're living on the edge of your means, and if you're in high school, I bet you're planning on moving out of mommy and daddy's here in a short period of time. Get a Honda Civic w/ the money you get from your truck and you'll be way ahead. Better mpg + lower insurance and money in the bank. Everyone loves money in the bank. Then when you can afford to go pay cash up front for the bike you want, do that. Oh yeah, take the MSF class in there somewhere too.

FYI...everything tastes better when you've had to want it for a while.

About the credit deal, I would have my parents co-sign that way it would help build my credit also. So thats not an issue there credit is good enough for the bike I want. And I agree my job sucks hardcore but I make enough to make the payments an insurance. And yea FWD cars are nasty with some power behind them. Im not to fond of them because you have to either A. Rip the E-Brake to "Drift" or B. Tray drift. So I try and stay away from that, its also a beast trying to turn while the fronts are roasting. My friend had an Acura Integra with a B18 and it would chirp if you power shifted into 3rd. And Fargo360 why would I sell the truck of my dreams and buy a honda? That would be like me telling you to sell what ever you ride an buy a 49cc scooter. (If thats not already what you do drive)
