Bah, sleep is overrated. Especially when there are two new little munchkins to fuss over.

Thanks Everyone...

Well, we had to send her back to the hospital. Wife, Younger son and I are all sick and naturally passed it on to Cordelia.

She's got pneumonia and she's been admitted to the PICU. I understand that once you've exited the NICU as a patient you can never go back in.

I was going to ride in to work today, but now that I didn't sleep and that has made me sicker I'm just going to stay home.

Bleh, it is never just one thing.

At least we had her home for a little while and with successful treatment I'm sure she'll be home again. Maybe this time after we are all done being sick.

Ohh, that's a bummer. Glad you decided to stay home. Rest & fluids, fluids, fluids. Guess Random has the run of the house?

He's in kindergarten right now. When he comes home he gets dressed and goes to karate.

I'm tempted to send him to 2 hours of karate, but that might be much to ask of pop-pop to sit in the uncomfortable lounge.

Status update for the twins:

Morrigan was sick for a little while - enough to go to the hospital. She recovered well with fluids and not being exposed to the infectious agents - namely everyone else in the house except Cordelia.

Cordelia is another matter. She had the Esophageal Atresia and a connection from her lower esophagous to her breathing pathway and those have been corrected.
She also has a VSD - a whole between two chambers of her heart. This causes a number of issues depending on the severity. In her case even when being fed on the feeding tube she doesn't have enough energy to grow. This is because the blood has a tendency to cycle from the heart and lungs and not be pushed through the rest of the body.

It has been a bit of a see-saw with her. She was scheduled for surgery today, but was bumped by more urgent cases. So, her surgery will be on Wednesday.

There is apparently a high degree of success with the surgery and surviving the surgery. I wish the surgery had happened today as it has been a long time with questions as to her long-term survival.

We'll see what happens - it is in large part out of our hands. She is in Columbia University Medical Center at the moment.

Oh, Rhadam, you have your hands full. I'm very sorry to hear the girls have been so sick. How is Cordelia now?

Cordelia Update

#77 Unread post by RhadamYgg »

Sorry MZ, things have been pretty hectic over here.

To update everyone on the status of the household. :)

Morrigan isn't sick anymore and she is home and eating like a little piggy.
The boys are well. And presently being pains in the butt by making noise and not sleeping upstairs.
Cordelia has had open heart surgery. They corrected 3 defects in her heart. She is recovering at a better than average rate and may in fact be home by tomorrow.

We did in fact have a death in the family, one of our pets - a Boa Constrictor names Zeus, died. We had had him for a very long time and it is probably for the best that he passed - our ability to take care of him had declined rapidly over the years.

Cordelia is finally home!!! She is sleeping sweetly next to her sister.

Of course, this means that what little sleep I normally get - will probably go down closer to zero.

On a down note, one of the guys at work lost a close relative in a motorcycle accident. I still don't have any details, but it really sucks when any of us are taken while riding. Except of course, that at the least he was doing something he enjoyed when he died.

Let's see. Finally got to ride again. Commute to work gave me another 80 or so miles.

The twins are doing great.

I'm always tired. :)

Poor RhaddamYGG...
Glad everyone is doing fine though!
And think of it this way, wouldn't you rather be tired from keeping up with twins versus keeping up with one and worrying about the other in the hospital?
