My passenger was so thankful for being alive that he bought me a new tire.

Now, that was unexpected! Hey, Matt. Was the tire old or anything? Do you know if the sport touring tires have a higher weight capacity? Just curious.

I'm pretty sure he said that the increased weight brought his back fairing down into contact with his tire... which ate through the plastic and dislodged a crescent wrench, which in turn ate through the rubber.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Hah! That's what I get for speed reading on one day and replying on a different one. So it was suspension bottoming , not tire capacity. Thanks.

The kicker was that the blown tire was brand new. I only had 200 miles on it. Had it mounted two days before leaving for Laguna Seca.

At least now I know how many miles I'll have until I need another one, since the new one is a Bridgestone BT 45 - the same as the one prior to the blown Kenda. I only got 3100 miles on it, but it was pretty sticky.
