I use a cheap Italian helmet right now (Jebs), but it is terribly loud at higher speeds, so I am in a process of hunting for a quiet comfortable helmet
My friend has a Nolan (N84), which he finds comfortable, but it is still rather loud, and the ventilation at lower speeds (in town) is inadequate.
Maybe I should look towards Arai or Schuberth
Thanks again.
I'm not so sure about Nolan. It may not be as good as it supposed to be. Can't wear one because they don't fit me so I have no dirrect results to verify Nolan's quality. The only information I have about its quality was it saved one sport bike ryder though there was some problem in that it didn't fit him perfectly either.

You can't go wrong with Arai. But don't mail order it. It fits tight which is good so try a few on to find the one that fits you best. Some of them are Snell approved (racing bodies) and if you like your head, this is a major plus!

It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places. WtPooh

My First Custom, Late 90's Sportster, Heavily Breathed On, Big Block, S&S HP Heads, Custom High Performance Pipes. Wickedly fast, Uncomfortable, Front end is a jackhammer. Age 18yrs, Still have the bike!

They started in Japan in 1959.
Silly, there were no helmets in 1959 unless the dinosaurs wore them. And the thought of a cruiser big enough to carry them is gawd awful frightening.

Actually, thank you! I was trying to explain Shoei to a couple of friends of mine and couldn't tell them where they started or made. Finding you paid $500-$600 for a helmet and fining it was made in Mexico or China just sort of takes the wind of things.

Of my three, the Nolan was the cheapest, but it by far the lowest in quality. For instance, the shell is plastic rather than fiber glass. As I mentioned, when my (shaved) head is damp, the lining pulls out every time I take it off and has to be reinserted. The face shield doesn't have the dazzling clarity of the Arai. And the vent system is maybe as good as the Schuberth, but not as good as the Arai.

Any helmet is a compromise. But there are those that scream for attention. If you can afford the Aria then I can't say anything more. However, watch the Poly/plastic vs fiberglass issue. Fiberglass is stronger but it doesn't deform/adsorb dangerous shocks very well. I was surprised that Bell was still making them. It's sort of retro for them.

I know a lot of guys who shave their heads and then complain that helmet interior wears out so fast. I guess you can't have everything. *darn*
