Wow, that's really a miserable thing to happen. I'm thinking that "Daytona" might mean "svcks my a$$" in Gaelic or something. I bet at that moment, on the side of the road, with a dead bike...if you'd had a nice, shiny six-gun...you'd have shot that mother.

Hey listen you guys. What is it with all this tiny writing????? Don't you know I'm of an age where I need a bloody magnifying glass to read it? You're giving me eye strain.

Triumph do make cruisers; that's unquestionably true; whether they are 'lovely' is a matter of opinion. They make them primarily for the American market because they know they can get away with it over there where folks have more primitive tastes. They don't sell many of them here.
If I did want to cruise around I'd book a trip on a cruise ship. But I don't because I can't imagine anything more boring.
Why do I prefer sportsbikes?
Reason #1 I did sit on a Rocket III once at a bike show and saw its prow disappearing off into the distance. I want something resembling a bike, not an ocean-going liner.
Reason #2 I'm not a middle-aged, menopausal lawyer or bank manager with a weekend fetish for tassels.
Reason #3 Hertfordshire is a pre-Disney landscape (yes, such a thing exists) of cute villages, country roads and blind right angled bends.
Reason #4 Though I'm finding it difficult to see the small print these days, I'm not yet superannuated or decrepit.
Reason #5 Cruisers are for people with piles who need the comfort of thick upholstery.
Reason #6 Sportsbikes, streetfighters, classics and roadsters are beautiful. Cruisers are... not.
Reason #7 Cruisers are slovenly, weirded-out bits of machinery, attracting only the slick, sleazy and cheesy attention of sub-humans (certain specified British Columbians excepted.)
Reason #8 Cruisers are unnatural. (If god had meant us to have cruisers, he would have given us all backache.)
The only offensive weapons I have ever been known to handle are kitchen blenders, and there weren't many of those at the side of the M10 last Friday. At least, I couldn't see any. But yes, if there had been, I might have been tempted to use one.
I'm in a flat spin at the moment. Not sure what to do about the bikes, whether to sell them and buy something like a Daytona 675 or a 2002 R1, or just to keep hold of them, 'cos I like them so much, and hope that the problems will soon all be solved. My bank balance has suddenly taken a turn for the worse and my job is suddenly looking less secure than it did, which makes me nervous of any serious transactions at the momnent.

You know, it occurred to me last night while I was watching a Robert Altman film on DVD, that it takes so little to get called a socialist in America (not being entirely against abortion; liking cheese; once known to have given a dime to a beggar; reading newspapers other than the Wall Street Journal; been seen picking one's nose in public) that the US must be the most socialistic country on earth.
