By no means do I consider myself experienced yet but it's coming. I reached 6500 km on my bike this weekend and experienced a couple of new firsts.
I decided to go on a day trip to Drumheller with the CMC group in our area. My hubby is on a bike trip in Montana this weekend, so I went without him. That's a first, except for short little trips around home, I don't usually ride without my backup.
This past year, I have stayed on fairly safe roads that I know, and seriously it's the prairies, there's not a whole lot of twistie action. I completely forgot that to get down into Drumheller, you take a mountain grade road down into the coulee. I saw the sign and went "oh yeah" (okay that's not what I said), geared down and let the adrenaline pump.
We did a bit more up and down when we left, but the scariest (and most exhilierating) part of the trip was when we got to the top of the hill to go down to the ferry. There was a curve sign 65km/h, I can deal with that - next sign " Ferry 2 kms - Check Brakes".

The guys behind me said I did everything I was supposed to. Now if they could tell me what I did that would be great! I am really glad I got training, because without it I'm sure my bike would be decorating a guardrail right now.
It was awesome to be able to experience some new things and expand my horizons, the hubby's never been on the ferry so maybe one weekend we'll have to go. Or maybe Jasper.... who knows.
