No one on here has been to Wyotech, and if I'm not mistaken I'm the only one who has been to MMI. Didn't take Harley but had many friends who did, so feel free to ask.

well i did some looking into MMI and it looks like thay are part of UTI. i hear alot of good things about UTI.

i'm in Washington State. so if i go MMI i would be headed to Phoenix, AZ.
witch is about a 23Hr drive.

also i was looking into Wyotech as it's only 12Hr to Fremont, Ca. and i just had Twins. so i would eather Need to relocate the family or just be gone for the length of the training

so the Q's

What is class like?
was it mostly class work or hands on training?

About how long is the course?
Core Classes and the HD classes

where did you go?
AZ or FL?

Yep, they are definitely a part of UTI.

I went to the Phoenix, AZ campus. I got down there in September and started on October 15th, 2007.

Gotcha, we've got a lot of forum members here who have twins, search around a bit!
As for relocating the family. If you do that, make SURE to get an apartment or a house. I lived in a 5th wheel trailer down there, and the heat was MISERABLE. I saw up to 124 one summer day in August 08.
As far as Phoenix itself, decent city as long as you don't mind long flat roads with decent driving distances to get to anywhere. Unlike most metro areas they can just expand as they're in the middle of the desert.

Class is 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Three sections to choose from: Morning is 7 AM to 11:30 AM Afternoon is 12 Noon to 5:30 PM and Evening is 6 PM to 11:30 PM

Everything is hands-on after the first few clinics. You'll get bored with the first 6 weeks, as it's ALL class-work learning about the theory, operation, etc of bikes. After that it's a lot of hands-on with little class-work.

The first 9 clinics (including 7A and 7B plus Theory 1 and 2) are about 9 months long. There are a total of 12 3-week sections. Then you break off to your electives.

Electives are as follows:
Harley Davidson Early Model
Harley Davidson Late Model
BMW
Honda
Suzuki
Yamaha
Kawasaki

You can take as little as 1 or as many as all of them. You can only take Early Model if you take Late model, but you do get some good hands-on experience with Pans, Shovels, Knuckles, etc. IMHO it'd be worth it. BMW you can only take if you maintain a 3.5 GPA. (Not very hard.)

All of the metric classes are 12 weeks long, including BMW. Harley is a bit different. I took two metric classes (as you can see in my sig) and got done about the same time as the guys who did Early and Late Model. But Early is only about 6 weeks long.

Attendance is a BIG DEAL there. Miss more than 2 days in 3 weeks and you automatically fail the class. It also goes on your transcript so be careful with it. Also, you can not fail any individual class but fail the school if you get less than 70% attendance rate.

If you want more info on the individual classes, I kept somewhat of a journal over in the Blogs section of here.

Also, just so you know, there is a ton of brand-rivalry there, but the vast vast majority of it is all in good fun. And honestly I went down there hating Harleys, but I came away with a new respect for them. I'm still not the biggest fan, but I don't think they're crap now either.

If you have any more questions or need help with contacting the school (their phone tree is wacky) or even figuring out what neighborhoods are good, feel free to PM me and ask!
