Honda Nighthawk 750. 1991 -2003. Many great examples can be found for about 2k.

I bought my 1991 in 2004, 12K miles for 2K. It would probably sell for 2 K yet.

4 Cylinder, all around useful bike. Not the fastest, not the slowest, handles reasonably, about 50 MPG. 5 gallon tank. Good range.

Never needs a valve adjustment.

Low maintenance and economical.

You can ride 2 up without a problem.

Unless you have a specific criteria (fairing, top speed, wheelie machine) the NH 750 is a nice all around bike.

Here's a nice example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1992-Hon ... 06.c0.m245

You know what they say about free bikes being the most expensive. If you're spending under 2k expect to shell out more money as things start to break.

My 2k Nighthawk hasn't needed anything bit the usual stuff: Oil changes, tires, A little brake fluid bled. Had it 5 years now. I did add a Battery $85 the third year.

The NH750 were under 5K new, so they are inexpensive to start off with.

YMMV.

Actually, the CL350 Scrambler is the one to have. The engine is both a bit stronger and a bit nicer looking than that of the CL360.

Here is a pic of mine, before I sold it for $1500.00cdn.
