I was looking for a new bike for the wife well we did get what she wanted. but with all the read about them on there web site. I found out they don't know how to measure there seat height.. I sarted thing I would never fined a sport bike for her , they all list there seats at 30.3to 31.5" . Buell is 31" and it is high, but I have long legs. so we went looking anyway, so sat on alot of bikes and she could put both feet flat on the ground, I sat on one that was sopose to have a 31.5" seat height and it most likely was like 28". so what's up with this??? Any way she now has a 2010 KYMCO Quannon 150 it is fast eoughe for her she can keep up with me on the hiways.

Numbers will only ever tell part of the story.

Seat height as listed is a good place to start, but as you found, it is not the only thing to consider. Width of the seat and of the bike affect how tall a seat feels greatly. That's why MX bikes that have 37" seats can be ridden, the seat and bike is very narrow and don't splay your legs outwards. Forcing your legs outwards effectively shortens your inseam.

Keep looking and keep her trying them on for size.

Not only that, but I was taking a look at a Yamaha XT250 recently. It's a taller bike, but once you swing your leg over it and apply some weight, it settles down some.

I'm guessing that the official specification seat heights are unloaded seat heights, and what the effective seat height is will vary from rider to rider depending on his or her weight.

Yeah have her look at the Ninja 250/500 or the XT250. I have seen those XTs a lot on the road, plus they're very dirt capable, and aren't too high. And my sister is 5'4" and rides a stock height Ninja 250.

The 2010 Blast has a seat height listed as variable so I guess you can adjust it quite eailsy depending on what side of the cube the seat is on

the Ninja 250/500 and the one I got for her this dealer had them all , this little 150 was fast and under 300lbs so it felt faster the the 250 or the 500. it also felt lower with the shape of the seat. I all ready have this bike.. and my bike is no Blast.. I know how to pick out a good bike for a new street rider, she learn to ride the same why I dii , had her on dirt bikes for two years now and now she want a steet bike so so a good rider and she learns fast.
