Thanks for everyone's help and input. I bought an '03 SV1000S tonight. It looks and sounds amazing. Only mods are some Micron bolt on cans. It only has 2600 miles on it which is super low for an '03. The fork seals have been replaced due to the age of the rubber and of course fluid at the recommended intervals.

In the end I went with the SV1000S because I liked it as I did the Sprint ST, it was cheaper by $600 and half the price of the ST to insure. Also I don't see myself doing more than 300 mile trips in it so I didn't need the superior touring capability.

I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me :)

Happy bike day I am sure that you will enjoy it. Part of the fun is learning how the new bike goes.

To answer your earlier question, we had a Women in motorsport day. There were cars and demo bikes. Only licensed ladies were allowed on the track on the demo's.

The rest were allowed a couple of laps as a pillion. I was one of the lucky guys to get that job. To be honest it was bloody scary when the girls were briefed by The Goose as to what to do and then immediately forgot everything when they got on the bike. I had one girl shaking so hard she nearly had me off as she mounted and then shook all the way around the track  The 1050 was as stable as hell though.

Happy bike day. My opinion of the Sv1k was it was the 650s bigger, nastier, and roomier brother. The size and ergros felt bigger and roomier than the 650, pretty much the whole literbike vs 600 deal.

Id love to snag a SV1k myself (preferably a naked one).
