2010 Ninja 250R, fuel injected?

My friend is looking to get a new Ninja 250 and this one dealer "friend" called him and told him to buy the 2010 model that they (the stealership) are getting in October because they are fuel injected. I can't find anything online that can confirm this... have any of you guys heard this or is my friend being suckered in to this 'deal'?

Might be worth waiting to see if this little rumour comes true or not.

It's possible the the 2010 model might be injected, but at this point its all speculation. Kawasaki has not announced anything about the '10 EX250.

A few of the reasons for the speculation are that the more stringent 2010 U.S. emissions standards will be more easily met with injected engines. Second, Kaw already has developed an injection system for this bike in other (non-North American) markets.

This begs the question : Who cares? There should be no appreciable difference in performance. Additionally, if the new bike does have FI, you can be pretty sure it'll probably be more expensive.

gsus.... I don't know about the 250 Ninja being fuel injected, but I sure do like your Magna. That is one good looking bike.

Hmmm... I'd love to tell him to hold off until it's actually out, but I think they want him to put down a deposit for it right now... Hopefully that's not the case.

You know, some days, I think all I really wanted was a Ninja 250 with FI. The choke on my '07 really pissed me off during the winter and my FI B-King - I just turn it on and go.

I remember riding for 10 minutes thinking it was time to cut off the choke and stalling out at a light in the middle of winter. :( Looking like the newb that I am is never fun on a bike.

i'd heard the FI rumor as well and thought i'd actually seen it in writing before, but after a couple days of half-hearted digging i can't find it again.

but yeah, if you can get it FI, it's definitely worth it. same thing with my '07 Ninja 250. Loved the bike, hated the choke.

I haven't heard or seen anything on this but I believe the Eropean 250 has been FI since the redesign in 2008 so makes some sense that they will introduce it to North America sometime soon. Problem is, when they do I can see the price going up considerably; whether for valid reasons or not. For sure; the carb model is a pain in the A** as it's very cold blooded unless you adjust the needle jets or change the jets altogether. Nice bike but it's a long warm-up if it's not really hot outside.

FI is something I would really like on my 250. However, if I were to be buying one now, I might reconsider. The base price of the current version is already $4000 or so which is about $1000 more than the base price of my version(2007). FI will probably make it even more expensive and you start getting to a price range where you have a lot more options (instead of the <$3000 range).

If it's definitely going to be a 250 though, it might be worth waiting to see if there is a FI version because the choke is a pain. Though, I don't know if FI is as easy to wrench as carbs might be so if your friend does the maintenance, maybe carbs might be easier to work with. (???)

You'd think FI would be cheaper by now. After initial development - it should be fewer parts and fewer moving parts to make FI.

I mean FI should be by now - a canned process and nearly bullet proof.

But I think you are correct, that Carbs are supposed to be easier to work with, unless you have some electrical wizardry that allows you to work the injectors and the things that could be adjusted with them.

The B-King - on FI changes alone - changes the output of the motorcycle drastically.
