The Master [George] regards himself as the determiner of values; he does not require to be approved of; he passes the judgment: "What is injurious to me is injurious in itself;" he knows that it is he himself only who confers honor on things; he is the creator of values. He honors whatever he recognizes in himself: such morality is self-glorification."

When all else fails there is always Mr Hicks to rely on for an appropriate quote (or three)...
I'm so sick of arming the world and then sending troops over to destroy the "procreating" arms, you know what I mean? We keep arming these little countries, then we go and blow the "poo poo" out of 'em. We're like the bullies of the world, you know. We're like Jack Palance in the movie Shane ... throwing the pistol at the sheep herder's feet:
"Pick it up."
"I don't wanna pick it up mister, you'll shoot me."
"Pick up the gun."
"Mister, I don't want no trouble, huh. I just came down town here to get some hard rock candy for my kids, some gingham for my wife. I don't even know what gingham is, but she goes through about 10 rolls a week of that stuff. I ain't looking for no trouble, mister."
"Pick up the gun."
Boom, boom.
"You all saw him. He had a gun."
I'll show you politics in America. Here it is, right here. 'I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs.' 'I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking.' 'Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding out both puppets!'
That's another good thing about Bush being gone, man, cos for the last 12 years with Reagan and Bush, we have had fundamentalist Christians in the White House. Fundamentalist Christians who believe the Bible is the exact word of God, including that wacky fire and brimstone Revelations ending, have had their finger on the "procreating" button for 12 years. [Eyes roll back in head] "Tell me when Lord, tell me when. Let me be your servant Lord."
I love talking about the Kennedy assassination. The reason I do is because I'm fascinated by it. I'm fascinated that our government could lie to us so blatantly, so obviously for so long, and we do absolutely nothing about it. I think that's interesting in what is ostensibly a democracy. Sarcasm - come on in. People say "Bill, quit talking about Kennedy man. It was a long time ago, just let it go, alright? It's a long time ago, just forget it." I'm like, alright, then don't bring up Jesus to me. As long as we're talking shelf life here...

I know lots of Christians that think Bush is a nut case. Of course, none of them have big hair or pinkie rings. And they live by faith, not someone else's tax deductible donation.Or believe in Jesus Christ.

For the record, I believe Dubya is a good leader, because I feel in my heart that he is genuine in his faith. I believe he is trusting God to give him direction in his position of leadership. Throughout history, leaders who have relied on God have been laughed at, ridiculed and even murdered by the vast majority of the people they were leading.
So whether his choices are popular or not, they are good enough for me. I think the animosity toward him from so many people is in a strange way evidence of his trust in God.
Since he is trusting the Creator of the universe for wisdom in his position, he got my vote, and has my continued support.

I seem to recall something about killing being on God's short list of issues he has with humans. Something about thou shall not kill, to paraprhrase. George has not done much to stop that aside of providing many bodies to the terrorist/insurgancy meat-grinder. Over 1500 dead - to bring democracy to another country that doesn't want it. How does a Christian request that people kill or be a part of a strategy that doesn't involve Christ like behaviour. Walking in with guns, tanks, bombs, and using them as a way to squeeze the enemy is not Christian. I don't care what you say, George Bush has a lot of forgiveness to ask for every day.oldnslo wrote:I think he consults Dick Cheney more than God.
Certainly not throwing stones, as I am not free of sin. Just feeling hurt for what I think is the lost message by many who claim to be a part of one of the greatest peace lovers in all time. Christ.
I've been through this a few times with a few different folks here, so I won't drag this out. In 20 years (if I'm lucky enough to still be around) I'm sure the stories from this day will be very interesting. And I'd love to have a talk with some of the lovers of Bush's "grand plan" on that day.
Remember, there were people who thought the war in Korea was right, and the War in Vietnam. I'm sure Germans in WWII thought what they were doing was for a greater good. If they kept the upper hand, we'd all see the world through different eyes.
