That's a samurai sword and the knife is a tool that came in handy for my trip in New Hampshire in case I broke down. I train in various forms of martial arts and thought it looked pretty nice to get a pic with me equipped. I transport a Shaolin Broadsword back and forth to class.koji52 wrote:JC (a bit off topic on this thread) - been meaning to ask you, what's up with the bo-staff and knife on the bike? You going to war with someone or something? Just curious.
Back on topic, I the pic would look more bad a$$ on a Honda 919 or ZRX 400 or 1200. Not sure if I like the Suzuki GSX-1300/ 1400 though. I actually would stay with Kawasaki for the Positive Neutral finder... god that comes in handy. Which reminds me.... I want them to bring back the naked K750S that was an awesome and comfortable bike.
Yamaha still has the FZ-1 and FZ-6 but were to buzzy for my tastes.

You don't get pulled over riding while strapped with a sword and knife?JC Viper wrote:That's a samurai sword and the knife is a tool that came in handy for my trip in New Hampshire in case I broke down. i can see where i might be misunderstood but if a zrx or an fjr were to show up on THESE shores, all 3 of my 80s yamahas would be on the for sale block, first thing...
i dont care for the look of the 'new' bikes. if i wanted a 'transformer' then i guess any of them (sans the harley) would fit the bill but i DONT want a transformer...
the harley is more money with higher associated fees for less horsepower. most of the other bikes at least have COMPARABLE power and torque...
sorry to come across as complaining about somthing and seeming unwilling to support the manufacturers once they try to fill the need...

Hey that was just a friendly razz on my side........ I didn't mean any offence. There are tons of used ZRXs kicking around, some with low miles. Have you looked at that option? Or how about a Buell? The riding position is not too bad on the lightening and there are no valve adjustments or chains to adjust.Ltdave wrote:i can see where i might be misunderstood but if a zrx or an fjr were to show up on THESE shores, all 3 of my 80s yamahas would be on the for sale block, first thing...

no offence (or offenseHey that was just a friendly razz on my side........ I didn't mean any offence.

i DO see how my thoughts could be part of the problem...
ive seen a couple of the green zrx's around me with about 25K (miles) on them for about $3,000-3,500. i think though that i would like to have a new bike but i am keeping my eyes open...

No, knife is in the tool box with the other tools. Swords are legal to carry but not to be used in public. If anyone raises a stink about it then they are biased against the culture i partake in. They allow the Saudi Prince to carry his sword everywhere in NYC and I can't take my training sword to a class? I only carry it to and from class when I need to practice btw.koji52 wrote:You don't get pulled over riding while strapped with a sword and knife?JC Viper wrote:That's a samurai sword and the knife is a tool that came in handy for my trip in New Hampshire in case I broke down. Back on topic: I like the naked SV650, a more aggressive version of the Honda 919 but I still would love a Kawasaki for Positive Neutral Finder... unless Suzuki and Honda have something similar.
Here in NYC there are plenty of people who ride standard bikes or would want one for the practicality of it. Sporty but efficient, good seating position, not too tall, less plastic to insure etc.
The dealer here dropped the price on the Honda 919. It's now below $7000 brand new. Now I gotta see what I can cut from my insurance policy to get this thing at a reasonable cost.
I did like the look of the B-King mainly because it does look like a Japanese action figure or Transformer. If I had a ZRX first thing to buy would be a wind screen lip or extender.

wow, my Aikido Sensei would beat my "O Ring" into a fine mist if he saw me showing off budo gear on the internet! If you truly understood this stuff, you wouldn't need to pose... don't mean to offend, I just don't understand!JC Viper wrote: That's a samurai sword and the knife is a tool that came in handy for my trip in New Hampshire in case I broke down. Still OT: My Sensei wouldn't ever get upset if he saw me posing with proper gear. He might well print the picture & tear apart my form tho.desper wrote: wow, my Aikido Sensei would beat my "O Ring" into a fine mist if he saw me showing off budo gear on the internet! It's no shame to post part of who are and what you believe. Granted, if you were showing off, that'd be different. Or trying to take on airs or attitudes that either you couldn't back up, or weren't part of the culture you're learning, my Sensei would make me practice with the white belts FOREVER. That always hurts, b/c they do it wrong and land on my head . . . .

I think the Saudi Prince is afforded many more privies than the common man. I'm sure being able to carry around a sword falls under diplomatic immunityJC Viper wrote:No, knife is in the tool box with the other tools. Swords are legal to carry but not to be used in public.
