89 cu in Sporty

#111 Unread post by Smokin Sam »

My name is Sam. I live in northern BC, Smithers to be exact. I have been riding for about forty years. I am a journeyman motorcycle mechanic by trade. I grew up on on Hondas, Yamahas, Kawis and later a few Harleys. (Big twins and sportys.) My current street bike is a 91 Sporty. It has been modified by me. I like performance, so I build it. It is a 1460cc big bore stroker motor with S&S components. Wha hoowey! It does not look like much till you try to pass it! I choose a Sporty because it is a good, tough, economic platform for drag racing. (Compared to a big twin.) It doubles as a daily rider too.

Bought my first H-D Sportster in 2008, didn't ride for long time before than due to being busy with family. Figured that a Sportster is too small and traded it for a 2009 Fat Bob. Love that bike.
My family (wife and 4 kids) became infected soon, so that I had to buy another Sportster in 2010.
This month my wife got her own bike a 2011 Fat Boy.
I have ridden south (Blue ridge parkway, skyline drive, smokey mountains) and north (NH, ME and Nova Scotia). Sometimes I feel its nice everywhere except in NJ where I live.
This summer we (wife and me) plan to go to New Foundland. We have 3 weeks and plan for 5000 miles.

Hellow everybody, they call me the Carpenter because that's what i do for a living.Been building bikes and houses for about 40 yrs now and hope to keep doing both for a lot longer. My current ride is a 06 Electra Glide Standard that i have built my verson of a street glide from.Of all the bikes I have owned over the years it is deffinatly my favorite. Also in my shop there is a 2006 883 low that has been fully bobbed for my youngest son and a 2006 Big Dog K-9 that my oldest son rides.I am looking for a used Dyna Low Rider for my wife as she gave her bike over to be "bobbed" by my youngest for a graduation present. We all ride in this family and really have a lot of good memories to show for it.

Just wanted to stop in and say "Hi y'all!" I live in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, and ride a 2011 Heritage. I received my first bike when I was 14, a Yamaha 80cc streetbike. I've had several Yamahas and Hondas since then, but my last three bikes have been Harleys: '99 FXDX, '09 FXDB and my current scoot.

The name's "Terry", glad to meet ya'... :roll2:
