Any feedback appreciated!
You tweaked my curiosity, how old was he? I started on a CB400T about 25 years ago at age 52. Ride a GS500 now and have always felt a 400-500cc size bike is about right to start on and is a good all around go anywhere do anything size. I'd consider a Ninja 250 but only suggest a Rebel 250 for very short persons as a starter. It's nice to be able to get your feet flat on the ground as a new rider.
I didn't ask how old he was, but he looked like he was in his late 60's.

So I've decided on the Ninja 250, and am looking at a few different 2008 used ones with low mileage. Thanks for all the feedback guys.

still recovering - back to crutches, then walking with a stick, then running - then hopefully riding again!

Wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts on the two bikes based on your recent comparison.

I'm glad you decided on a Ninja 250 - it is a great bike and I used mine for 38 mile each way commuting with a mix of local(suburban), city and highway riding.

Mine was a 2007, which for some odd reason returned better MPG than the new 250, but hands down the styling of the new Ninja 250 and newer technology are cool things.

Just wish it had FI.

The main difference in comparison for me was acceleration and handling. The ninja accelerates much faster than the Rebel, and for that reason I feel will be better able to handle the interstates and getting out of any difficult situations.

I did like the more laid back position of the Rebel, but the handling and acceleration sold me on the Ninja. Plus, I think I see myself going in the direction of sports bikes anyway.
