Injected or carbed?
Injected or carbed?
Trying to choose between two bikes. Pretty much equal and I would be happy with either one. Now the question. One is fuel injected and one is carbed. The fuel injected bike is about $1000.00 more. It does have some upgrades as well, but all being equal, how much if any more would the fuel injection be worth? Which one would have the lowest maintanance and be more reliable. I'm not mentioning the bikes because I don't want any biased opinions, just the facts. Thanks.

Fuel injected bikes tend to start easier in cold weather, and typically require less maintenance on the fuel systems than carbed bikes. They often have smoother power bands too, if the system is mapped correctly. You don't have to deal with a choke on an injected bike, either.
If you can afford the extra grand, go for the injected unit.

Speaking as the owner of an '86, I'd highly recommend the fuel injected bike - even if it means you have to wait to make the purchase. I just spent $500 on carbeurator 'tuning' and balancing and whatnot, and the bike still does not start in the morning. Besides that, I like to do that kind of work myself, but the four little devices above my engine have stumped me. I am in the market, and I will never buy another carbuerated bike.

I always said I would like carbs better until I had fuel injection. I really like the FI a lot now. Pretty much for all the reasons Toyuza talked about. Another thing I can add on that is instantaneous throttle reaction. There is no delay like you feel with carbs. And starting the bike is a dream compared to my old '82 Nighthawk.
I'd definitely have to say go with the fuel injection. I would have no problems buying a carbureted bike though. Just prefer it now I guess.

I'm gonna have to try FI some day - it sure does get talked about highly!

carbs
i like carbs my self for the simple reson if i need to fix the fuel system its gunna be cheaper and i can do it my self....FI is more of a pain to work on and take alot more $$$.....if you dont know much bout mechanics id go FI...other ways id go carbs
