96 lbs of torque at 2K RPM, nice. Sit back and relax as I seperate the back tire from the rim in all it's smokey glory. Love the looks and design of this new Beemer. Those pipes are just crazy.

They are both great looking bikes no question. I prefer the looks of the BMW over the Honda IMO. The Honda is definitely more power cruiserish while the BMW is more GT bike-ish.

And they won't make it to production based upon the lack of anything that resembles a silencer. Too bad, 'cause they do look cool....

ok, someone help me - with these style bikes, how the hell is that seat going to support my huge butt?

seriously, how is the seat supported?

I can see a piston style support on the beemer, but not on the honda...

still recovering - back to crutches, then walking with a stick, then running - then hopefully riding again!

I'd guess a subframe just like a modern sportbike. I've seen those subframes support some pretty big weights.

Is it just me, or does that Honda not have a clutch level? Must be another DSG.

Is BMW looking to go after the Hayabusa & ZX14 buyers?
Just a thought. I've read somewhere that BMW saw much of its new future in North America or at least the US.This looks to me to be the start of this. Sort of like the Rocket III. IMHO, there is no real market for it but it is big, brutal and is quite an eye catcher. This new bike could do for BMW what the VMax did for Yamaha and for that matter, what the 'Busa is doing for Suzuki.

For the record, I like either the S1000RR or the S1300 better but this will get people into the dealerships. However, they'll have to pry my "airhead" out of my cold dead fingers...

Both bikes get two thumbs-up from me. They actually look more futuristic than my bike.

It's funny how manufacturers known for air-cooled boxer engines keep releasing new models to try and kill their signature engine. Porsche did it in the late 70s with the 928, to eventually get rid of the 911 and its flat 6. Didn't work, obviously. BMW tried it in the early 80s with the first K bikes, which didn't kill off the airheads either.

I suspect this 6 cylinder concept exists partially for the same reasons, but I doubt that it'll kill off the boxer either (although more clean air legislation just might).
