Just picked up a used 2002 RC51 with 1,236 miles on it. First of all the problem happens about once a day. It first happened as I was pulling into a parking lot. It just turned off. Now today, while on the freeway it died but since I had the clutch out it jumped started and all was normal again. I am not feeling any power loss. The only odd thing is that the temp light flashes like it has a lose connection.
Sounds like some kinda bad electrical connection. Check all your wireing is good and all connections are tight. Then start checking things like the switch gear on the bars and ignition switch. A voltmeter will be a very handy tool for this.

Thanks for the feed back guy. I did try checking the battery and it has a good connection. But while working on it I had to move some of the wiring around. When I tried to start the bike it would not turn over. It was then I noticed I could no longer hear the fuel pump turning on. Moving the wiring around it would some times turn on but then off again. I will be taking her apart this weekend to find the bad connection.
