To Windshield or Not?

I would say learn without one since it's your first bike. Then if you do get one riding will seem easier... not the other way around. If you ride with one on a lot in the beginning even a removable one you might get used to looking like a geek, then when you try to switch to riding without one you won't be able to take the wind

HA! Thats funny! Maybe I'll just get the bike and then start looking for a windshield when the weather starts to turn bad up here. Good point about getting used to feeling the wind though. windshield
I have a cruser and have been trying to decide myself about putting on a winshield and size so i went on a couple of other bikes,one with the full clear shield and one with a farring type and small shield.I found that at highway speed the full shield was great ,the ride is confortable ,the smaller shield was ok for the rider but didnt offer much of a treat for the passanger ,swerly winds on face ,crazey feeling.I am shopping for one now because I dont live in the city and will always be getting on and off the highway,if i was in the city ,nope ,but city or not I hate the freeway ride.Just make sure the windshield dosent stick up higher then your nose because when it rains it is very hard to see through.well its hard to see in the rain under any circumstances isnt it.The more I put off getting one the more I seem to get used to the wind ,I also like the look without one .I had a convertable car once and always had the glove box full of hats for my passangers,the bike ?I am going to try an Bandana next?If thats not enough I will spring for the removable full shield.

I don't have one since the beginning but seriously looking for one now.
When I first started riding, at 60mph I thought that was fast and the wind was gonna blow me off. After a while I can ride at 80-90mph without shield no problem.
I've been doing it for 6 month and I ride a lot at night at 80mph. I come to think of myself and my body, what if it get colder the wind stronger or my body get very very old and tired. It makes me thinks of getting a shiled with easy on/off removable.

My bike was totally naked when I got it. I rode it about 3000 miles, with about 1/2 of that above 60 mph (various amounts above). When I put the small faring on it, I was pleased with the comfort improvement at speeds anywhere outside of town. Particularly the comfort when taking one or both hands off the bars, for whatever reason (waving or wiggling fingers, etc). The calm air in front of the chest area makes it easier to adjust jacket zippers, sleeve adjusters, etc. I vote yes

My old bike had a tall, highway shield. One time I rode a long way home at night, in the rain. The worst part was that when headlights would hit that shield from approaching traffic, my vision became totally distorted from the rain drops on the shield. No good!
The shield on my newer bike is a Memphis, and its top edge is below my line of vision. It blocks out just enough wind to make my shoulder checks at highway speeds seem much more stable than without a shield at all.
I thought that putting a shield on my bike would really dork it up, but the parts guy at the bike shop helped me place a couple different types next to my bike to get the best looking one. It's easily removable too, just in case I want to pop it off, but really, I'm so used to it now, I don't see a reason to take it off. It's sweet!
Check out the different types, and you should be able to find one that suits you and your bike.

windshield
After reading and asking about to get or not to get a windshield I decided to wait a bit and now I am starting to realy enjoy the wind on a warm day and its dosent seem so bad at high speeds anymore .I am going to wait longer and see how it goes this fall.

I use my windshield for:
-Longer trips (i.e. over 300 miles per day)
-Sustained (more than an an hour at a time) speeds above 65 mph
-Wet weather
-Cold weather
-Bug times: (twilight, riding through farmland, etc)
-Going to work
