Honda or Harley?

Must be a regional thing Zoo...I grew up North of Dayton and don't remember any of the men needing a bike that big.

Then again, most the people in my area were on 4 wheelers, not bikes.

Now that I'm in TX, everything is bigger...so I'm sure my Rebel would take your Mean Streak any day. (just give me an hour head start or so)

I guess its too hard to balance a shotgun and a beer on a bike, so the 4 wheeler is the natural choice.

The Mean Streak is a power cruiser and is able to give a few sport bikes a run for their money, scraping pegs all the way!

Maybe power cruisin' in midwest "twisty, curvey....um, been there...know better" Ohio.

I wouldn't try this around the Lake of the Ozarks!

My original plans to get a Honda Rebel have been changed due to an unexpected windfall..
I am now trying to choose between a Harley XL883C and a Honda 750 Aero.
I would appreciate any input from forum members.
My big concern is the water cooled Honda engine...seems to be just one more thing that could go wrong.. Not sure which is cheaper to get serviced.. I have sales flyers and spec sheets spinning in my head when I sleep...
The Honda dealer is willing to haggle...the Harley dealer is not. I could probably save $1000.00 to $1500.00 if I got he Honda....but would I be happy down the road??....AGGGGHHHHHHH
It was easier when I was poor...

It's important to buy the bike that suits your style of riding.
For example, I live in the desert, so the best bike for me is a big cube cruiser (Road King). If your a mostly 'urban rider' then a smaller bike like the Sporty is great fun (I have a 1200 as well) in traffic. My experience is that an 883 is too underpowered, skip to a 1200.

All this talk about people ignoring it at bike events is irrelevant.

Like someone said....buy the bike that makes you smile the most! (who cares if it turns out to be a Honda! )

In general, yes. In the context of the attitude towards displacement here in central Ohio, no. The topic was regarding the lack of small displacement bikes around where I live, and the overall feeling of small bikes in general. The bikes that most of the forum members are happily tooling around on are the very bikes most folks around here are screamin' to trade up for something bigger. I am just now realizing that this must be a region to region thing, because elsewhere everyone seems to be just as happy on much smaller rides.

Around here the Sportster 883 will get you an "E" for effort...and if you're a guy you'll tell everyone you just bought it because you got a really good deal on it and you're going to get the 1200 kit for it next payday (that's what my buddy keeps sayin' anyway).

And if I understand Mr Zoo's logic correctly, a 1600 Mean Streak is technically a "Chick's Bike" in Ohio.
