Funny you should mention the spray paint, I have thought of that very idea myself. I think I'm going to use rattle cans to take care of the rear drum and final drive, then let a local powdercoat guy handle the wheel cover. Due to the larger exposed surface of the wheel cover, I think powdercoat will stand up to abuse a little better. I still have not decided on painting the rims or not. I 'm thinking just a little bit of chrome might be ok. Ya know, add a little contrast with all of the black. I do think I'll paint the inside area of the disc on the front black. It will look similar to the 1100 Vstar and, should match really well after I paint the rear black.

Very nice looking bike! You certainly don't have to do anything to it because it's gorgeous in it's own right, but hey a bit of customising sounds like fun!
