Mufflers
Mufflers
Motorcycles that look cool appeal to me. You're probably like that too. I'd replace my current bike with a new one but I cannot abide by the these new oversized mufflers. Most look like aluminum trash cans clamped onto the ends of the exhaust pipes to me. Yamaha's FZ6/8s appeal to me just because the mufflers are up and hidden. I'm not big on aftermarket pipes on new bikes because of warranty and tuning issues so I'll just kinda wait it out. Kudos for Triumph keeping the Bonneville line free of trash cans and HD too on some of their bikes are maintaining some slimmer exhaust pipe lines. dayll

Re: Mufflers
For me, handsome is as handsome does. I have never gotten what people mean by a "sexy" bike. Yes, see what I ride . . .

Re: Mufflers
Aesthetics are often irrational but as much as I love riding I, for whatever odd reason, like looking at motorcycles too. I wouldn't call the ones that appeal to me "sexy" but rather just pleasing to my afflicted brain. Even looking at gauges as if you are actually riding can make a bike appeal to me. There was a time, eons ago, when I even felt that way about MX bikes. Electroshock treatments helped me with that a little. -dayll

Re: Mufflers
i like an undertail exhaust as well. if it's not going to be, i do like symmetry and like it when there's a can on each side. in the end, if you can't do a can on each side, at least make it look good. don't do like the fz1. it's a dang 55 gallon drum hanging off the side of that bike.
btw, the fz8 has a single side exhaust like the fz1. it's pretty much an fz1. not much fz6 in the fz8 sad to say.

Here ya go, nice and symmetrical, plus loud enough to wake any sleeping cager.

Re: Mufflers
they're just a little out of proportion with the bike, but i do like the symmetry.

Re: Mufflers
I agree, I don’t like those trash cans, (nice analogy), either.

Re: Mufflers
HA! Wrider--that's hysterical stuff, thanks for that. And Dean you're right, the new FZ8 is all trash-canned up. Too bad. My days and nights of aggressive riding are long gone so I just want a bike that looks neat to me, has enough power to not be embarrassing, handles decent with good brakes, and requires little maintenance, and doesn't make the garbage man look twice at the muffler.

Re: Mufflers
I just looked up the FZ8, and even though looks aren't paramount to me, I gotta admit those mufflers look like (and probably interfere with) luggage.
