free gear with new bike?

#1 Unread post by rubthebuddha »

My buddy told me that when you get a new bike the dealer will usually throw in some gear (helmet, gloves, etc.). He said they won't just offer the stuff, you have to request it before you seal the deal. Did any of you get freebies when buying your bikes? What did you get? BTW I've pretty much decided on an '05 Honda Aero - :kicking: - I'm so psyched!

I didn't...ebay bike. But I just wanted to ask...is it stage left as you stand on the stage looking out? I can never remember.
Ride safe...God bless!

I believe stage left is your left as you view the audience from the stage. Isn't that the same with baseball? Not sure really...

The only thing our dealers ever did was to "roll" certain accessory items into our bottom line so that it would be picked up with our loan. But it never hurts to ask - the worst they'll do is say "no". Even if it's a new bike, look it over thoroughly - if there are any scratches at all, they'll take $ off for that. I received $300 off my bike for a brake light cover that was "rubbed dull" (not really scratched) and a slight scratch on one of the fork covers. I also received a MFG. rebate of $500 for buying last-year's model. Good luck!

Cheers,
Loonette

Stage left, stage right, I don't know? I took the name from Rush's Exit Stage Left album. I guess Rush got it from Snaggle Puss - a cartoon character that was before my time.
Loonette thanks for the tip about checking the bike out thoroghly (for scratches etc.) I will do so.

I bought a used bike, and still got two HJC half helmets (sml & XL) and two pairs of gloves thrown in. I know, not the most expensive items on the rack, but I made sure that the salesperson knew that the deal depended on me being able to ride the bike off the lot safely and I was after all, with a friend...

My dad managed to get two $250 helmets thrown in with his '05 C50, and he even haggled the price of the bike down, too. He also negotiated a 25% discount on all accessories purchased for his bike, so he equipped it like the C50t before it was available.

There are four cardinal stage directions, all dating back to the beginning of live theatre - they are all from the actor's p.o.v.

Stage Right - the side of the stage to the right of the actor, looking out towards the auidience

Stage Left - the side of the stage opposite Stage Right

Upstage - towards the back of the stage, away from the audience.

Downstage - Towards the front of the stage, closer to the audience.

Rush got the name from standard theatre terminology

If you get gear with the purchase of a bike (from a dealer), the chances are very good that it wasn't "free". It's just factored into the price of the bike.

Last new bike I bought at a dealer, they wouldn't even let me keep the pen I used to sign the check.
