From Clutch to Scooter

New member here, hello, nice to meet you, my name is Marvin.
I have been riding and owning motorcycles since 2002 owned 6 bikes since then from crotch rockets to dual sports and cruisers, now I am down to 2 bikes a 2005 Yamaha FZ6 and just added a new 2009 Yamaha TMAX scooter 2 weeks ago.
I still don't have the heart to get rid of my Yamaha FZ6, the the more I ride the TMAX the more I LOVE the TMAX and less like the FZ6, I know, I can't ride both bikes at the same time!
But I need some help, my biker friends are harrassing and making fun of me for buying a scooter, but they don't know that the TMAX is a super scooter, its a scooter with a crotch rocket engine and handling.
I joined this forum to find some friends that understand the love and passion of riding, not to own a bike as a boost to your image or a type of bike to show off with, I buy a bike for my enjoyment, to be comfortable on a long road trip, easy and enjoyable to ride, I didn't buy a bike just so I can park it in front of a well known place to show it off and make sure everybody looks at it!
Does anybody understand where I am coming from?
I am a big believer that bigger isn't better, any 500-750cc bike will work just as good, go fast enough and do the job as any giant big cc cruiser bike, I like my bikes quiet, and handling and comfort is the most important thing to me.

Exactly, in the end it's all about good friends and riding whether Harley, crotchy, scooter, DS or chopper. Although I have a mint Honda RVT1000R that is fast and sexy, I don't just do it just for the looks and speed. I travel from VA Beach to western NC all the time (700+ miles) just relaxing enjoying the ride. Sometimes perception isn't everything (Some Harley riders are nice ) and of course It's never about the bike, it's always about the person and the good times.........Welcome

My family are about riding such a small bike (2008 Honda CBR 125r) which has a smaller engine then most scooters.

I find that most people that are negative towards me are reflecting their fears of motorycles or jealous they are not riding. This is a great place to find some positive engery on riding. Which is real nice because none of my family or friends ride. So I'm hoping to meet some new ones to go riding with.

The show covers a journey as the three hosts as they journey from one end of Vietnam to the other on a Vespa Scooter and two motorcycles A russian model and a Honda Cub. ranging from 50cc's to 150 cc's. So to say your scooter is too small is nonsense.

Not too long after I got my MP3, I was parking at Wendy's and two hard-core looking bikers were on their way out, spotted me, and headed straight for me. I had visions of some physical harassment, and when i saw the patches on their vests--HA--I damn near wet myself.

They circled it a few times, one guy pronounced it "kicky" and the other said he ought to get one for his old lady.

If a scooter is bass a$$ enough for a couple of Hell's Angles to like, it's bad a$$ enough for anyone.

People can be so condescending or even rude about our decisions in life, but when it comes down to it, as long as we are happy then who cares! I don't have a bike right now but I still feel like I'm a biker - I'm just waiting to get back to Canada before I buy another one and in the meantime can ride the hubby's bike or contemplate buying one in the UK anyways...

The awesome thing about TMW is that the community accepts all types of riders (as long as they're nice). 2 or 3 wheels and those who are between bikes. It doesn't matter. We're like one big happy family!

Yeah they took me in and all I ever rode was during the 3 day safety course. I'm glad I found this place
