B-King - An Odd bike's Journey

So, I'm going to go to Las Vegas in October - I may not get the chance to ride out there, but I think I'm going to rent a bike for two days. Eaglerider.com has a bunch of bikes from two different rental facilities that I can rent. If anyone want to put in their two cents as to which of these bikes they would rent and why, go for it! So, maybe I'll get 600 miles instead of 6000 miles and it'll be on a rental bike from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon - assuming that in late October this is a suitable time for riding.

The beemers - come with 300 miles, the other bikes have unlimited miles (the bastards, should all be unlimited miles).

Now, I tend not to like heavy bikes, but for a short time, I'll deal with it - especially since I won't get a chance to ride some of these bikes - well for years, I'm sure. The dollars are close enough on all of them that it won't make much of a difference.

Unless of course she puts the kibosh on renting a bike too. This time I'm not going to tell her, at least I might get away with that - rather than being missing from the house for an additional 6 to 7 days.

If it were me, I'd rent the Harley Fat Boy or Road King. I've sat on them in the dealership (never ridden one) and they have a nice, low center of gravity and great balance -- I'd think it'd be perfect for slow-speed nosing around and sightseeing.

Other'n that, I'd jump on the 250 Nighthawk, man!

The Fatboy is a mighty comfy ride. Kinda like a Caddy on two wheels. Im not a big cruiser guy but I really liked its balance and comfort. But I would go with the Goldwing just cause It would be a LOOOOONG time before I could ever afford one of those and I understand that they are really powerful and fun. If not those then the NightHawk toofiddy baby!! Just imagine tearing up the Vegas strip on that baby!

Personally I'd rock the Honda ST1300 out there. It's made for touring, but you can still definitely have fun in the twisties. The local PD rides them, so you know they're quick, and they definitely do well in the twisties.

Hmmm Fat Boy - I could pretend I'm Ahhrnold in the tubinator! I'm thinking of using whatever bike to ride out to the Grand Canyon and back, plus a little loafing on the strip.

Goldwing! My destination bike... Might be good for a couple of days, but I really wonder what would happen if I got home and went to a Honda shop and bought one. I'd probably be dead inside of a week. It might be worth it. Let someone else raise my four kids - they can find their own way out.

1 - ST1300
1 - Goldwing
2 - Fatboy

The Fatboys rear tire is huge (duh, I guess that's where the name comes from). I might even look cool on that bike. Well, I might need to rent a jacket as well to make me look cool on bike.

The bonus is that I've owned a Kawasaki, Suzuki and a Yamaha - so I'll be broader in experience by manufacturer pretty much whatever bike I rent.
