My petcock doesnt work in the on position, so I run it on reserve all the time. I just keep track of the miles, fill up around 80-100 miles while I know my range is 120-140 miles judging by my tank size and gas mileage. I only ran out once, but I was 5 minutes from a buddies house so he came out with some gas . . no pushing so far 8)

Reserve is there for a reason. The very reason Ron mentioned. It's there, why not use it. Pushing a motorcycle more than 20 feet SUCKS..... don't it Randy?

ive never run out of gas(well a few times but i managed to coast to a station since theres 2-3 on every corner). but im still paranoid about filling my tank up whenever i get the feeling its starting to get low. last ride i was worried i was about to run out at any second i go to fill up and only could get just under 4 gallons in(tank holds 4.5).

i find it harder to keep track of how many miles i can go on a tank with my current bike, on my last cruiser it was very easy and accurate. maybe because my current bike takes longer to warm up, lots of idling at high rpms. alot of quick starts with the throttle wide open some rides others slow starts off the line never pushing the rpms high. guess im just not consistent with my riding styles as i was on a cruiser.
