Hey all I was down in mexico with my Brother and cousin. An hour after the plane landed we decided to rent some motorcycles (Iwas in shorts and they didn't offer any helmets). We'll after two hours of racing and redlining these bikes, we took them back to the shop. We had to drive down a skinny ally with a/c units sticking out of the walls. I bumped the a/c unit and my throttle hung open. Not wanting the bike to take off with the owner standing right there I put my feet down to stop the bike. It fishtailed and pinned my leg between a wall and the pipe. After getting control of the bike I pulled away parked it and looked down at my leg!!! It was horrible. Dead skin everywhere.

Ouch! You didn't have to tell me. Sounds like you'd have have gotten bruised anyway, but it does seem like a good pair of jeans could have saved you some skin. Sounds like a weird accident... but that's the thing... they're all weird and unforseen and unexpected.... and why one day you'll be happy you ALWAYS wear your gear. Jeans on my legs is my minimum around-town wear, but I always have leather jacket, full-face, and gloves on.

Treatment
Treatment
So after this happened I hobbled to a bar and requested some ice. She said no even after looking at my leg. After we bought some drinks she finally gave me some ice. (I later found out Ice is bad for a burn, it only makes it worse, use cold water.) Then I walked a mile to the nearest pharmacy. The "pharmasist" gave me some oil based creme. Also very bad on a burn, unknown to me at the time. After four days down there I came home and was immediately sent by my doctor to a wound care specialist. He old me it was a large deep partial burn(3rd degree). He then had to SCRUB it! He gave me silvadine(for the leg), levaquin(for the germs), and put me on crutches for 3 weeks. Now that I can walk on it again I relized that it was stupid of me to go out with shorts on and it was my own fault. I have a crazy scar, and a good scar. Always wear pants kids!

Re: Treatment
At least when on motorcycles. Other times pants should be optional.Bricoop wrote: Always wear pants kids!
