Yeah the sound this thing makes is just amazing with its crazy reverb and it was incredibly loud. I can't imagine what it must of sounded like in the stands as Hailwood rode by. It must've made the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

I am curious about the adaptive headlight feature. As soon as BMW begins production on the bike I want an in depth video of the bike in action.

I think the (optional) adaptive headlight is the most interesting thing about this bike. Given that bike lights always point the wrong way in a curve, this feature could potentially be revolutionary.

Yep having a naked bike (ie, where the headlights move with the fork) helps at low speed, when the bike isn't leaning much and the fork/lightbeam points in the direction you're going. But when you're at speeds where you're both countersteering as well as leaning into the curve, I notice that the headlight beam points away from the direction the bike is going/leaning toward. So I'm curious how well BMW's solution (which seems incredibly complex) works.

I have a feeling the cost of maintenance on this bike will be quite high and that's in comparison to other modern BMW cycles. So... time to find out what tonight's lottery jackpot will be...

I also don't trust BMW with all this new technology. I would trust it from one of the Big Fours but not from BMW.

Yeah, their reputation for reliability has pretty much been on a continuous tumble for the past half-decade or more.

But you bought a BMW. The magazines always had good things to say about BMW cycles especially the F800.

Oh, this is too funny - I was just browsing on the web a F800ST with optional ABS and comparing it to a Honda CBR600RR with ABS. The BMW looks more practical, if that can be said of any sport bike. Less HP, too - maybe easier to insure.

Well if you are going to have one bike, the F800ST is a much better choice. Much more comfortable and practical. As a sportsbike the CBR would destroy the ST, in handling, braking, and power.

Yes the CBR will be much more expensive to insure than the BMW. The insurance on both BMWs I have owned have been dirt cheap. I guess statistically BMW owners don't tend to wreck them and nobody seems to steal them either.
