Im starting reading a lot stuff about bikes and beginner riders, my dad used to have a honda goldwing 1000 when i was young and i always liked motorcycles, after that the last year a friend of mine got a honda dirt-like bike and i used to ride it in time to time but not really very often (he used to have it as a transportation). Now I need to move from this city to another about 2 or 3 times per week, is a 45 minutes trip on the highway (im on hampton roads va, usa) i see a lot of cruisers riders around here, huge and cool HD and stuff, but im quite sure i will need something more suitable for my skills (which are not null but pretty much like a newbie) so i was looking at craigslist and found a honda rebel 250 and also a yamaha virago twin VX 535cc that looks cool and i think i can afford, but just need an advise on this, because i will like to use it as "daily" transportation and i definitely dont need to get an accident, whould you please give me some hints, i mean, im conscious about what ever i get i will need some time practicing around the neighborhood and parking lots, but even thou i'll like to have something "easy to handle" but cool enough to practice for getting something bigger after a while...

I would suggest a safety course to get familiar with a bike again. There are a lot of good bikes out there, you would have to choose for personal taste and pleasure. Go to different bike shops and sit on different makes and models to see how they fit your frame and for comfort.

That Virago would be a great bike to have. The Rebel is a terrific starter bike, but the Virago will be better on the highway. It's not too big for a newb....just be sure it's mechanically sound before and if you decide to get it.

Welcome! And I'm with Blues. The Rebel is not a bad bike by any means, but it'd be overtaxed on the highway at those speeds, esp for that long. Go with a motorcycle safety class, get some gear, and go with the Virago!
