Re: The Blog of Blues
After work today I rode over to the dealer I now go to. The place where I bought my bike has too many strikes against it....I won't go there again....
anyway....I wanted to show Mike the service guy my windshield. He was who suggested Industrial Plastics....I also booked an appointment for next Friday after work to take the kawi in for it's 6,000km service. By next Friday it will be almost 6,000km.
I also asked him about the clutch lever...I asked if he knew if I could get an E-Z clutch for my bike....(they are available for HD's)...they reduce tension on the lever by about 30%. I asked him if he knew if I could get a dog leg lever.....I've seen them widely available for sport bikes....
So...he adjusted the clutch lever for me.....Wow! It's so much better now....I think I'll name him Magic Mike.... The person who sold me the bike told me basically I'd have to learn to live with it....and put the bike in neutral at stops so I would not have to keep holding the clutch lever in....
Wait a minute now......We all know that when you come to a stop your bike should be in first gear.....and kept in first gear for emrgency use.....although I am sure most of us will put the bike in neutral if there are already vehicles stopped behind us....this is the same guy who could not be bothered to help me with my windshield....or the place who half the time never answered their phones.....and...and....
So...I started going to Holeshot in Langley...they answer their phones....they don't make you wait for weeks to get an appointment, they are open until 7 on Fridays, they are helpful...and they have Mike. My ride home after the clutch lever adjustment was so much easier on my hand and tendons.
I rode to my friend's after that and we had pizza and went to a movie. I didn't like Will Ferrell before and I still don't like him. The Other Guys.....stupid.....it was mildly amusing in some places and had a few good blowemup scenes.....it could be debated whether Mark Wahlberg lowered himself for this movie or Mark Wahlberg brought the movie up a notch....
Now I want a Prius......
It was just starting to rain when I went home.....

Re: The Blog of Blues
This morning when I got out of bed it was raining outside...it was so hard, it was like a monsoon. I even dug out my waterproof booties to wear over top of my boots....I "almost" was having difficulty going over the bridge because of the strong winds...
IT POURED ALL MORNING.....
but suddenly around noon it stopped, cleared up and the sun came out. My ride home was very nice. Sunny and warm.
I stopped to do a bit of shopping....cargo netted to the back rest...and went home. It's getting dark by 7 now.

Send some of that our way, please. We're having a near-drought in Jersey this summer.blues2cruise wrote:This morning when I got out of bed it was raining outside...it was so hard, it was like a monsoon.

Re: The Blog of Blues
Regardless of who is behind you honking because they think you are moving off too slow.....what happened today is why we should always be sure before we wind up the throttle....
First let me backtrack to last week. A bad crash had occurred which ked to closing the highway. It meant everyone had to detour.
Well...the man in the big black Ford pick up truck almost ran the stop sign which made me brake.....he stopped at the last second....then he pulled in behind me....and I mean really close....I gave him the back off sign.....(No..not the middle finger...
)....he backed off a little bit....then I got to the stop sign at the highway and found out I could not turn right. This was the point where it was closed...so why on earth did they detour us so far away??????
So....I put on my left blinker....assessing the situation.....they guy in big black Ford honked at me....called out his winidow....Motorcycle...let's go..........sheesh...if he had not honked I would have been gone....
I turned around and told hm if he was in such a hurry to go around me.....but he just waved me off and said something else...I pointed out the left turner who was turning on front of me.....he then said to go...they can't go anywhere anyway....
That's when I yelled back and told him F**k off. He shut up then.
The person making the left finished the turn and then as I creeped out to see more....I wanted to make sure the tandem dump truck that was making the u-turn was going to stop.....I think at that point was when the guy in the big black Ford realized.....and was why he shut up....So...I went....the dump truck was staying stopped....
Once on the higway though the big black Ford passed and then was tailgating someone else....
It took 2 hours to get home that day.....
OK...back to today. I was at a stop sign making a right turn onto a road with three lanes. The closest to me is a right turn only lane, the middle is a straight through and the far lane is a left or through lane....So...I started to move into the middle (through lane) because it was empty and no traffic was coming...just as I started to cross the line into the through lane, a black car suddenly zipped out of the other lane and into mine....almost colliding with me.....I had to hard brake....he realized what he had done and said...Sorry.....I said you should be.....so..I then started to go again...and suddenly a white car pulled out and into my lane.....I had to stop again....I managed to get going after that and the rest of the way home was good.
Anyway....that is why regardless of who honks.....why we need to take the time to really assess what is going on.
