Heck, how does it even protect you from stones, dust, wind, and general eye damage even if you're not crashing?

not to mention the handlebars that hit her face in the video :P
still recovering - back to crutches, then walking with a stick, then running - then hopefully riding again!

That stunt chick was HOT!

I am curious as to how it would work when someone would be tumbling down the roadway after a crash from say 60MPH.

Yeah me too. In my recent accident I made contact with three different things in about maybe 5 or 6 seconds.
First I bounced off the car that cut over in my lane in front of me. I don't think my head made contact with the car but it was a hard hit and should of set off the air bag.
Next I traveled about 15 feet where I hit a metal sign pole. That stopped my bike but not me. My head also did the sign pole.
I flew off the bike and rolled feet over head at least once maybe twice (I'm not sure how many times) before landing maybe 30 feet away from the bike. So my head also hit the ground.
So if hitting the car set off the air bag would it still be inflated long enough to still protect me for the other two hits? Also how well would the air bag hold up against the metal surface of the pole and also the ground?
I think I will stick with my helmet. I would have a lot of damage to my head and face if I wasn't wearing it. I am glad I had me full face helmet on I almost went back in to get my half helmet before I left home. I'm glad I didn't now.
