I met Dave Chappelle last night!

#1 Unread post by Loonette »

So I'm at work last night, selling tickets for the movie (I ran Hayao Miasaki's "Howl's Moving Castle" - I love his work!), and I notice Dave Chappelle hanging around town, talking with the townies. Not too unusual - he grew up here and comes back to visit family and friends. Later, I'm back in my cage selling tickets for the second show, and he comes up to my little window to ask about Sunday's matinee movie. I try not to act like a LOON, so I answer his questions acting like I don't even know who he is. I wanted to yell, you are so darn funny!! I love the racial draft skit!! But I didn't want to say the same thing that everyone else always says to him. So I acted cool, but I could tell I was blushing.

In person he's so incredibly normal. The gal I worked with last night used to live next door to his parents, and I guess his dad is an awesome opera singer. Who knew?! Just had to share.

Cheers,
Loonette

i just dont get how its funny when he tells racial jokes, but if a white person does the same jokes then well they have to be taken off the air or sued or whatever. people should either have zero tollerence for racial slurs or open their eyes and accept it can be humor no matter who is saying it.

how would Jesse Jackson get whole communities foaming at the mouth if people accepted racial jokes by whites.i would hate to see him have to go to work for a living.

To his credit he does crack on black people as much as anything else. I'm no race relations expert. He's not always funny - but he is a lot of the time.

I guess thats cool.

I'm not into the whole celebrity thing. I'm so not into it that I was real close freinds with several Rock stars for months before I realized how famous they were. Maybe thats why they liked hanging out with me. I could of cared less one way or the other.

As far as Dave Chapelle goes, I kind of find most of his stuff annoying, and he seems to just keep doing the same stuff over and over again.
