Anyone wanting to improve their skills while riding some unbelievable roads, check out Jim Ford's Riders Workshop. Jim is a lifelong rider, fellow local BMW club member. He knows his stuff.
I have not yet been able to take one of his workshops, but everyone I know who has simply "gushes" over the experience. With two kids in college, the RW doesn't fit into our budget right now, but I do have this on my list of rider courses to add to my repertoire.
The workshops are small, limited to 5 riders so each "student" gets plenty of attention and coaching. Jim provides communication headsets so he can coach as you ride - much more effective in helping you to improve as you go! The workshops are run as weekend long or single day rides. The Riders Workshop is yet another opportunity for a rider to learn while having fun.

I had the opportunity to go through one of Jim's Classes. I concur with Pam's assessment that everyone who takes this course comes back raving about it. Jim teaches you a lot about finding good roads to ride through some handy map tricks, helps you read the road better, and shows you how to keep your motorcycle happily humming in the powerband to take the best advantage of engine braking and quick spurts of acceleration. If you ever have the opportunity, go for it

Have you thought about posting this on the BMW MOA board?
I'm really thinking about taking the course but, since I'm paying for a spring wedding and still have a kid with a year of private college, I figure I can EITHER take the course or buy a Roadcrafter suit. I'm still mulling it over.
