Really nice V-Max vs V-Rod write up, I enjoyed reading that... but I was left wanting to know more! haha.
I wish I could fit on either of the darn things, I'm just too tall. I have always had a soft spot for the Gen 1 V-Max, the Gen 2 is a great bike but the price... ouch.

Hey Mike, thanks for the welcome ! I can tell you the difference between the three bikes riding positions . As far as the vrod, it has forward controls and if your not at least 5'8 you might be stretching for the controls! Riders taller than 5'10 probably would be most comfortable with the forward controls. The vrod is more comfortable than either vmax on long rides!
As far as the gen1 and gen2 riding positions, yamaha improved the riding positions on the gen2! In my opinion the gen2 is more comfortable than the gen1. Not to mention the gen2 has extremely high seat and riders shorter than 5'8 might have trouble standing it up as opposed to the vrod which is one of the lowest bikes on the market ! All three are great bikes and I enjoyed riding them all!
Just my 2 cents.

Life may begin at 30 but it gets real interesting at 140!
Sorry I missed that. Yeah it was an 09 (gen 2) before they even hit dealer floors I got to ride... As the guy riding one next to me said... "The torque is everywhere, now THAT'S how a bike is supposed to feel!"
Oh and I don't have a bike right now... But I work on them so I get to ride customers' bikes. In doing that I've gotten to ride everything from 50 cc Korean scooters to a turbo 'Busa that runs 8.6 at 6500 ft corrected altitude.
Have owned - 2001 Suzuki Volusia
Current bike - 2005 Kawasaki Z750S

With a job like that you don't need a bike! A turbo Busa, that must have been a ride!

Hi and Welcome. Great bikes, I really like the V-Rod, but I love the V-max. I hope to get a Gen 1 V-Max in a few years, I would love a new VMAX, but I don't have the cash for one.
