I recently aquired this cruiser bike from a job I work it. It was an abandon bike, so we repo'd it and took it in. I got it home, and this is my first bike. All I know about it is that it is a Yamaha, and it says 650 on the gas tank, and Maxim on a piece below the gas tank. I've looked on many websites, and there have been none that tell me specific years. All I end up with are XJ650H. Or XJ650K. Just stuff like that. What exactly do I have? I know it's a 4 cyl. I'm guessing early to mid 80's. But does anyone know what years the Yamaha Maxim 650's were made? And if the Yamaha Maxim 650 has a name like the ones mentioned above(XJ650H)?
Thanks for your help!
What kind of bike do I have?

Yes, the XJ650 came in two variations - 1980 - 1983 Maxim (Cruiser type) and Seca, (Standard type)

quite a few people on this board have xj650's (Including me - I have a 1982 Seca) Great bikes and with a little care will last for a long time.

Are you unable to find a VIN on the frame and/or engine? If you're able to find the VIN, it holds all information on the bike (including year of manufacture), and you would just have to ask a Yammy dealer to decifer it.
