I allowed a so called 'motorcycle expert" to take my scooter for a ride, he said it had no torque!
I said yea, but so what?
To me any motorcycle doesn't need high torque unless its extremly heavy, hauling or hill climbing, a diesel semi truck requires a high torque engine for it to haul heavy loads up steep hills, to pull out from a stop with the weight of a heavy load.
Why do you need 70+ ft lbs of torque on a motorcycle to ride on any highway, climb any hill?
So the HP and the torque numbers have to be close or the same to be accepatble?
My FZ6 claims 92 HP and 44 ft lbs of torque, a Kawasaki Mean Streak has 52 HP and 70 ft lbs of torque and my FZ6 can beat it anytime anywhere, I can pass him without even trying hard.
So the only way I understand it if a rider doesn't feel that high torque from a motorcycle its considered slow!
Lets play the game of finding fault with my scooter! I made the mistake thinking if Mr Motorcycle Expert would take my Tmax for a ride he would be impressed, I screwed up I shouldn't have given him a ride, now I am pissed off, you should have seen him riding it, he looked like he was never on a motorcycle before and he calls himself an expert?

Marvin, that is a game we don't play round here.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Re: Mr. Expert says it has no torque
Ummm it doesn't have any torque... The CVT is horrible for transferring torque. Trust me, I've worked on dozens of scooters and maxi-scooters.
Not sure what you're complaining about here. So what if it doesn't have torque?
If he said it was a POS sure you could get pissed off, but otherwise, he's just stating what he felt on the ride.

Re: Mr. Expert says it has no torque
Do you like your scooter? If you do, why do you even care what someone else thinks about it?
Your bike is a 500c parallel twin. I dragged out the October 2008 issue of Motocycle Consumer News which had a review. Peak torque is 29 ft-lbs, peak horsepower is 34. (That torque is right on par with a Ninja 500.) The magazine review said it was "a little weak off the bottom" - I'm sure the CVT contributes to that. I had a Honda Reflex 250 scooter once, I remember you had to whack the throttle open to get it moving, but then throttle back after 2 seconds because it would suddenly build up some steam.

I am at a gas station pumping gas into my scooter, not bothering anybody, then some guy I don't know has to walk over next to me with a "poo poo" faced grin on his face looking at my scooter and shaking his head, then he opens his mouth, I know what he's going to say before he says it! The best non-violet way is to ignore him, walking away and ignore him is my best option, I walk away.
