well i paid to have my oil done not that long ago really, but decided to go ahead and change it on my own the other day just to do it. the shop over filled it a bit and i had no idea what kind of oil they used. so i put castrol gtx 10w40 car oil in. my first night out it was amazing, my bike runs totally different. it takes alot less time to warm up(didnt think oil would effect that). it runs and idles much smoother, seems to have more power. over all it just runs Much better. the oil is all thats been changed and it feels like an entirely new machine. like i said it wasnt like my oil was old(probally 1000miles on it). but i am certainly glad i did. next time i might try a better oil but so far im happy with this stuff and it was cheap, 25bucks a case. i use the same oil in my car with no problems either.
maybe some others might consider running car oil next time.

For years I ran a good grade of automotive racing oil in my Triumphs and my Harley . I would never consider it in my Intruder . I recently did an oil and filter change using a MC Synthetic as well as using a Synthetic gear oil in the shaft and I too , cannot believe what a difference it has made , not only in my shifting but just in general .
Just my 2¢ worth as usual .
Kind regards, Wizzard

I agree with Wiz. I use Mobil-1 10w40 motorcycle oil and Mobil-1 75w90 gear oil exclusively. They have helped keep my running temperatures down, my lifters quiet, and I only have to do an oil change twice a year. The way I ride (flogging the throttle on a regular basis) I feel a whole lot better knowing I have the right stuff flowing through my engine and rear diff.
