I would like to have a map of my State. I want to be able to fold it out on the kitchen table.
I would to find one that is made specifically for planning bike trips. This is what would make it different than the maps we all know.
Do they exist, cost and where can I get one?
I would also get a few of the surrounding states as well. I just don't want a US Altas.
Help here?

In what ways would this be different than a regular road map? I'm not sure what you want.flw wrote:I would to find one that is made specifically for planning bike trips. This is what would make it different than the maps we all know.

Featrures such as:
Bike friendly roads also known GRAVEL roads
Dealers and general metric bikes repair shops w/numbers
Scenic views if in the general area
Detailed map of local roads not just state highways and Interstates
Specific Points of interest to riders like road tracks with numbers/hours etc...
This is just a list off the top of my head but a map that has riders in mind.

A smart-phone will give you all that and more.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

The closest I've seen to what you're looking for is the road touring magazines -- can't recall any of their names just now. Head to your nearest favorite book store (Hastings, Borders, B&N, whatever you got there) and browse the periodicals section. I know I saw half a dozen big thick mags on offering that were all about bike trip planning, and I have to assume a quick inquiry on the magazines website could tell you which back-issues covered your state. I know some of them have heavy cardstock 'tank maps' that can be torn out, I'll wager they've got big centerfold maps too.
