Thanks all, I'll try putting my foot on the peg while dismounting and we'll see how it goes.

I am 5'7" and ride a BMW GS.

I also do the hop, kick foot thing because of my top box.

I have developed a method of shouting

haiaiaiaiggghhh yyya like Bruce Lee.

Nobody laughs, in fact most won't even look me in the eye
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

What I have to do (which is not at all elegant) is to take hold of my right leg by cuff of trousers & virtually dislocate my knee to lift leg over without boot hitting tank!

This manoevere is even more difficult if I am wrapped up in full long distance gear!

For some reason I have never stood on pegs when mounting a bike.
Wow you are flexible I could not do that. Maybe you used to work for a circus? ;)
