But then again, I carry it all the time, anywhere I go. I use it for everything, from opening my mail, to picking the grease out from under my fingernails when I work on the bike, to cutting a tag off an article of clothing my wife has just purchased

It's alot handier than a pistol ... but hey, at least it's named after a gun!

Watch this video and tell me that a police officer would be able to see all guns concealed on a person. That is why making all guns illegal does not make sense, criminals will still have them and the cops would never know until it's too late.

Obviously that kid could not walk right with all of those weapons in his pants. But I think you see my point, there is no way to tell if someone is carrying or not unless they flash the piece at you.

First off I am all for guns, and I have seen this video before, however I want to see that kid walk down a hallway with att the Sh--tuff in his pants. not gonna happen. But I agree a gun is easier to conceal than a pack of smokes.

Personal choice... Sometimes I don't lock my doors but I have 2 male boxers that handle anything that comes along. And if the crook can get past them, he can have my TV. Riding the bike, SW in the saddlebag.. cuz the dogs haven't quite learned how to ride yet.. But we're practicing....

I was almost hoping this thread would just stick to the question asked, but as is the case with all non-firearm-oriented boards it quickly turned into a "guns are evil" vs. "omg nuh uh!" thread.

I carry a select fire rifle every day, but it's my job. When I'm off duty, I carry an one of three pistols I own, and probably have a Gerber multitool handy. The newest addition to the stable being a custom 1911 job that my combat pay paid for. Pic at the end, b/c I can.

To each his own on the locked door/windows. I was attacked, and stabbed in a country where the ownership of even an air pistol/rifle is punishable by death - and statistically there is minimal violent crime. I've always carried a pocket knife, for daily use things like cutting apples and whatnot - and while I lost that knife during the encounter - it saved my life. I was 12.

The point is fecal matter can, and will, hit the fan. It may not happen to you, and really I'm not such a misanthropist that I will it on anyone anyway, so I truly hope it doesn't ever happen to any members here. If it does happen to you, and I happen to be in the area, I'll do everything I can to make sure you make it out alive. If it happens to me again, I know how I'll respond.

All that said, there seems to be a platoon or two from the 11th Chairborne Ranger Regiment Special Operations Capable Elite Basketweavers Society residing here, and lest anyone get themselves killed trying to do what they saw in a bad movie, I'm going to post a link that may or may not be relevant. I've gone back and forth on gun ownership issues at least 100 times in my adult life. I was a nay-sayer to guns for a long time until I heard the story of a woman (can't remember her name) who was witness to the Lubby Restaurant massacre in Texas. She had a conceal carry license, but like here in dip-stick Ohio, it was not permissible for her to bring her gun into the restaurant. Thus, she left her gun in the glove box of her car when meeting someone for a meal. When the gunman came in the restaurant and started making his demands, the only thing she could think about was that her gun was not with her, and she had a clear line to this guy. One bullet would have taken him out, and nobody else would have had to die that day. I believe one or both of her parents were murdered that day.

I have insurance to reimburse me for any "things" that might get stolen, including my bike and car. But if someone is going to use a gun to threaten the lives of me or my children, I'd at least like to have an equal playing field. I don't own a gun because Scan and I don't agree on the issues of gun safety in a home with children. Out of respect for him, I have backed off of the issue. And, since in Ohio you can't take a gun into practically any establishment, I wouldn't want it left on my bike unattended.

I would like to find a nice knife to carry on the bike (more specifically something that can be strapped to my arm or leg). Any suggestions? That would at least give me a slight advantage over the average punk. I'm not into lethal anything - just do enough damage to get the person away from me if possible. Some mace would be nice too!
