backfire

#1 Unread post by gmac »

I just purchased my 2006 Yamaha Vstar 1100 Silverado 3 weeks ago. The previous owner had installed some Vance pipes. All was going well untill 3 days ago. Now it is backfiring when I am coasting down any hill. Is this backfire common with the Vance pipes or is there something that needs to be done? Such as a tune up. Greg

If these are not just slip-ons, the carburetors probably need to be rejetted. Bike's probably running lean.
