My 1st month of riding.

#1 Unread post by caine74 »

It has been exactly 1 month that I have been riding my motorcycle and taken the MFS course. I cannot describe how much fun and excitement I have had since I have started riding my bike. I was worried at first that my 02 Kawasaki Mean Streak would be to much for me to handle, but it has proved to be very well mannered despite its name. Thank God I have highway bars on it because one day while backing up the bike (engine off) I dropped it. It wasn't even all the way over and man was it heavy to bring back up. I have done a few 100+ mile rides around Missouri to cut my teeth in, they have been wonderful rides. It is now starting to get a little cold, so I figure by the end of October I will have to give up riding, except for a few nice days here and there. The bike came with a windshield that I hate; the wind hits my head wrong and makes me feel like I am getting slapped on both sides of my head for the whole trip. I guess it is just at the wrong height for me and it doesn't adjust.

Well that is for now. I hope to post more as I learn and experience more.

Glad to hear your enjoying your ride. Its also nice to hear your taking it at your own pace. Far to many don't and pay permanent price for it.

When spring comes and it will, keep in mind that you will need to regain the skills you have not practiced over the winter and if they sand your roads over the winter, there is left over sand on many turns.

Hey, welcome.

My experience has been that this is a great place to learn soooo much! Hope you enjoy it here.

With regard to the windshield, I just put one on my CB650C and I am loving it. It took some adjusting to get the air to flow over it right, but MAN! what a difference! If yours doesn't adjust you might try an inexpensive one that has some adjustment to it and give it a try again.

Anyway - keep enjoying the ride!

You can always invest in heated gear for the chilly temperatures. :)

I had my heated liner on this morning on my commute to work. 53 degrees at 80 mph gets cold after awhile..... :cold: ......but I was warm and toasty! :bigok:

53 degrees at that speed sure would be cold. I turned the heat on in my place today. First time this season.

Hi Caine and welcome!

It's great when a new rider joins the forum and shares they're good experiences. Thanks! And keep up the fun right until you have to tuck in for winter.
