TBH I always thought I'd end up on some kind of cruiser, and part of me still wants one. I didn't want a sport bike but I didn't want a cruiser so I went naked! :)

If you want the best of both worlds (looks of a cruiser, power of a sport bike) try to find a old Suzuki GS or other Japanese bikes form that era. If you are mechanically inclined, keeping a vintage bike running is a breeze. I have a 82 Suzuki GS 750 that I LOVE more than I love my car or dog. It's powerful enough to satisfy me but light enough and easy enough to control that I'm not terrified of it. Not to mention, I picked mine up for $1000 and have put maybe $50 into it over the course of one summer.
