Agreed. I always tell people that I love riding the coast of Oregon.....the east coast that butts up against Idaho. Better roads, and less traffic. Like you said, the people are great across the whole thing.

Back from the dead of winter.....

We've had a spectacular winter thus far, barely requiring a winter jacket on most days. Now on the 15th of January, we are into what looks like a serious cold snap , with lows of -30deg. C later in the week. Luckily I will be skiing in Kimberly BC when this happens where the weather is expected to be a much more hospitable +1 and snow!

For now though a few more pics of warmer times, out of order and found just floating around on my laptop computer. Come on springtime!

This one is from a run I did on the VFR around the Cranbrook / Radium loop sometime in the past couple of years. The Radium / Lake Louise road is by far the best of the day-trip and it's best done on a weekday when the tourist traffic is low:

Stopping along the way on the same stretch of road (Hwy #93) I found this scenic rushing stream when I stopped to relax. There is also a decent hiking trail but a large portion of the trees have been lost to either fireweed or pine beetle:

I vaguely remember that I took this one back on a road trip with Mr and Mrs Totalmotorcycle a few years ago when we rode some of the best parts of southern B.C. I can't remember where exactly but there were all kinds of people tubing this river just out of the shot:

Man...excellent read and awesome pics so far...I wouldn't be too surprised if we have bumped into one another somewhere along the road of life...when you were in Kaslo when you were 16, I lived in Castlegar...I lived in Airdrie from 1999 until 2006...you just never know when you see the familiar looking faces...(I also didn't realize we are the same age)...and now living in Sylvan Lake, well we should go for a ride this season...just remember, I tend to ride slow(er) and I'm still a newbie but I think it would be cool to meet up for a coffee and ride sometime...and since we both like taking pics, you could get some shots of you riding or atleast you in the pic...

Here's to an excellent 2012!!

Later.

I've ridden with you and enjoyed the company of several of your local riders... I'm flying out tomorrow and going to be at my daughter's house in Royal Oak, waaaayyyy out in the NW. I'll be there from the 20th until the 29th. 21st and 29th are birthday parties for my two grandsons. PM me if you have a hankering to get together, transportation is my only issue...

Royal Oak? It's difficult to be in the same city without being further away! I'm out in Kimberly right now but perhaps next weekend?
