This is a pretty old thread. But what the hell ...

The other half couldn't care less about riding her own bike. To her they just another form of transportation. On the other had she does enjoy riding on them. Hence my choice of rides. When I made the decision to get a new bike, I talked it over with her. We could each get one, or I would get the biggest baddest bike that was out there. She wanted nothing to do with door number one, so I went with door number two.

Even so ... I put 2,000 miles on it before I would let her on. Then 7,000 miles before we took our first, long distance, trip. We have been on several since.

The one and only time my wife had a ride on a motorcycle was when she was 16 and her brother took her for a ride. He scared her so badly she has never been on one since then.

This is just plain great common sense, too bad there are so few people that practice common sense. Good for you for thinking of the safety of your passenger before putting it at risk with a lack of experience on a new ride...

My SO, first rode on the back of my bike as a teenager and then rode my bike for a couple of years. When the kids came along I spent a lot of tim eriding trials before the kids got bigger and I got into road bikes. The Goose did several hundred thousands of KM's on the back of my bikes before getting her own. She took it slow and steady and is now on a 600 RR.

Some days, she does get sick of me and kicks me out the house and tells me to go ride on my own. I always obey.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

My SO got me into bikes although he never really could stick with just one. Always trading 'em in or selling 'em and getting something else with whatever he fancied at the time of his decision (lol). It's a lot of fun though!
