I'm just getting back into riding, but not that seriously...bought a mountain bike to ride with the kids, but the saddle is killing my butt...so I bought a gel seat to replace it, have to install it soon...went for a ride with my daughter on Sunday and was walking funny for about an hour afterwards...

I'm hoping this exercise will help me get into better shape than I have been in over 20yrs...
Good luck.

I really like it. Let's me eat more junk food as well. Lolz

I got my sewing machine out and did all the repair jobs that have been piling up.

I also sewed some extra velcro onto the cuffs of a riding jacket so that the cuffs will fit better. Whoever designed it, must have thought everyone had fat wrists...the cuffs were far too big.

Got paid today so got a hair cut at the local BARBER shop, C$21 - Put another 3 months insurance on Connie, C$261 and that is with the maximum possible safe driving discount - renewed my license (damn birthday in 10 days), C$75 - took out a trial membership at the aquatic/gym in Richmond, C$61 - sat at the tunnel wondering if someone is going to either ride up my arse or try to share my lane, they did - annoyed an Audi convertible wanker, err I mean driver by out powering and out handling him, gotta love it, got home, looked at my bank account and cried.
Always ask why.

Not today, but last night... Was riding on the Interstate heading home. There's a section of the interstate that was so horribly repaved in a horribly done "improvement" project that they've had to paint the normally dotted lines solid so no one can change lanes. The corner is blind, off-camber, and so bumpy you can't hit it above the speed limit without going into another lane anyway.
So I'm in the far right lane, it's a left handed curve, and approximately 10 yards in front of me at 65 MPH I discover someone has lost a piece of plywood in the middle of the lane. A piece of plywood with 2x2s on the edges as a kind of frame...
I got super lucky in that my brain decided to goose the throttle instead of letting instincts hit the brakes.
I hit it, both tires caught air (as I'm leaned over for the curve), and came down into a slight tankslapper. Luckily Mr. Brain kept on the throttle and I rode it out.
I was so shaken up that I pulled over right after (I've never had to pull over after anything for being shaken up before), and sat for a few minutes. Checked the tires to make sure they weren't flat, got back on, and rode home...

Wrider, looks like we both had a stressful 'object in the road event' last night, but mine was something breathing. )-:

I was riding down Washington Boulevard last night on my way home from work at about 2:30am, cruising along at the limit of 50 mph down that particular stretch, when a black and white cat bolted from the left and starting booking it across the street. Miles of empty road behind me and just as empty a road in front of me, and this cat chooses that moment to make the crossing.

At the moment, my lack of riding experience really bore it's head. My nervous system lit up with a hundred different options -- swerve, lay on the brake, try to gas it to get ahead of him. Somewhere in my motor cortex, some little synapse realized that if I tried to do any of them, I'd try to do all of them at once.

And so I did nothing. Held tight to the bars and maintained speed and direction. I don't want to say I froze, but that's pretty close. Ultimately though, what I didn't do was dump the bike or get hurt. I can't say the same for the cat. )-:

Weird, I make it three then for last night. Rode out to a lonely spot in the Delta flat lands to try and get photo's of the "Super Moon" and had a bunny run out in front of me, no problem, swerved to the far side to give the bugger a bit of room...it stopped in the middle of the road, did a 180 and headed straight for my front tyre.....missed by inches tho I think there are few tail hairs stuck to my rim.......and I swear I could hear bunnies in the field laughing at me when I stopped to get my photos, which didn't turn out very good.
Always ask why.
