I worked on marketing my book. And I would be remiss if I didn't offer a sample here so, if anyone wants a free sample, I'd be glad to send it to you. It's the story of a young widow who seizes life again by learning to ride a motorcycle. Private message me your e-mail addy and I'll send you the first three chapters.

I think the universe is out to get me. After all the effort I put into avoiding the Queen's Jubilee celebrations last weekend, I ran straight into them this morning on the way to work. I was still feeling cr*ap after taking several days off with a chest infection, so I decided to leave the bike at home and go by train. When I got to the station there were several hundred people milling around in the forecourt. I couldn't work out what was going on, but I was late, so I pushed my way through to the front of the crowd at the station entrance - and came almost face to face with Lizzie as she emerged from the booking hall. Seconds later, a member of the British Transport Police stepped up and asked me to move back. She then got into her limo and drove off with a police motorcycle escort (six very nicely tricked out BMWs). I have to admit I was a little taken aback. I'd aways vaguely supposed that she was some sort of animatronic puppet, not a real human being at all.

When I did get onto the station a couple of minutes later, the royal train was still standing at the platform, and the departure boards were all announcing delays in regular services - so I was late for work. I'm considering putting in my claim to the palace for loss of earnings.

I slept late, but while I was doing that the guys from Summer Rain Sprinkling were busting their a*sses in my front yard replacing the secondary water inlet valve. I can finally get some water on this lawn, hopefully not too late to save it.

Just in case I sound too lazy...

Day before yesterday I replaced the front brake pads on my Kia Sportage (easiest brake job I've ever done, woot for newer cars!), then put a new swivel jack and tires on our camping trailer.

our way back home from SB to carpinteria... gotta hand it to her, farthest she cycled was 10 miles and all flats. she did 37 miles on this one with many hills. she was too tired so we had to take a bus. i was worried but it seems those bus bike racks are pretty stable even on the freeway.

and finally some payback from her.hiking and rock climbing at 7 falls trailhead... never really been hiking and rock climbing.

hiking like boss lolz

I went to bed around 11 AM yesterday morning, then woke up at 7 PM. I went to work from 10 to 6:30 AM, then left the Springs at 8 for a 2.5 hour ride to Fort Collins. Proceeded to work on my uncle's quad until about 3. Rode back into town, and hung otu with a friend. It's currently 10:45 PM. I'm thinking bedtime...

On the ride home yesterday, came across a Red Gold Wing, tucked in behind him at the tunnel and followed him into Ladner up highway 17. Both caught the light at 17 and Old Yale Road and had a short chat. He had just celebrated his 80th, yes 80th birthday and was on his third bike. Could really ride that big beast too, no puttering around on it for him by the look of the way he took the off ramp onto 17. Just goes to show, bikes keep you young, even when you are pushing your century mark.
Always ask why.
